RV Retirement

This card was made for a guy that's retiring from our office.  Sadly the bear, skeeter and compass are from a retired set, but it was just too cute not to share!

John and his wife Pat have purchased a motorhome and will be traveling during retirement so I had to find something with a camping theme.  We need more fun stamps again, don't you think?

I discovered at our Team Meeting that we can watercolor very nicely on our Stampin' Up! Glimmer paper!  It's impossible to see in this picture that the paper is glimmery.  I really like how it colors with the ink from the lid of our stamp pads and an aqua painter.  Unlike the regular Whisper White, this Glimmer paper doesn't get destroyed with the water.

Inside I printed from my computer onto whisper white and cut it to fit inside, with a yummy s'mores inside too!

~ Have a great Saturday - are you crafting today?

This and That has arrived at my house!

I'm so excited for this great new product line from Stampin' Up!  Below you will see the products in the new This and That bundle (133350).  Check out the cute rotary stamp.  It has cute sayings and a movable date.  The journal is deeply etched with a hexagon design and is made of very heavy chipboard.  It's very thick and should hold up very nicely.

It even comes with Washi tape for placing your treasures inside so they stay where you want them and some adorable stickers (inside the back pocket shown below)

The journal has two pocket pages -   one inside the front cover and one inside the back  cover (shown above) - and has two decorative envelopes (shown below in the front pocket).

And it has awesome paper inside it!  Not to mention there is an entire package of 12 x 12 paper (each design shown above) to go with it - or to be used on it's own!

There are four sheets of stickers - lots of designs to use from pennants to journaling blocks and some really cute designs to use throughout your book.

Here's a better picture of the Rotary Stamp.  This is going to be so much fun to use!

So, let me know if you ordered and received yours.  I'm anxious to see how everyone uses their "This and That" books!

Each item can be purchased separately to add extra flair or can be purchased as a bundle, which is of course the best bargain saving you 15%.  The bundle can only be purchased at this price between now and April 30th, so don't miss out.

Thanks for looking in.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Scallop Trim Border Punch Cross

I spotted the amazing creation on Angie Leach's Blog Too Cool Stamping and simply had to find out how she made it.  When I learned how, I had to make it, of course!  Thank You Angie!  I love your blog and your inspiration!

My brain was quite puzzled at first, but leave it to her great instructions for how to make it and un-puzzle my brain!

Her instructions are here.  It's really more simple than you think!  Just a little muscle for doing the punching, but nothing you can't handle!

I didn't have any ribbon that would work, so I took some Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon and died it with a bit of water and my Perfect Plum re-inker.

Stamps Well With Others Recipe:

Card Stock:  Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant
Stamps:  Fabulous Phrases (w-117002 / c-120501)
Punches:  Scallop Trim Border (118402), Scallop Trim Corner (118870), Word Window (119857)
Big Shot Accessories:  Die:  Top Note Bigz (113463), Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976)
Ribbon:  Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (109070)
Extras:  Perfect Plum Reinker (102107)

Graduation - For My Project

Today's post is with retired stamps, but I wanted to share them since they are part of my "Year of Cards" Project that I'm working on for a special friend.  Thank you to Linda for loaning me the stamp set to make these cute cards.

The top card is done with Stampin' Write Markers on Whisper White card stock while the bottom one is done with Stampin' Write Markers and our Aqua Pens on Watercolor Paper.  I like the look of both, but especially like the way it turns out with the watercolor paper.

Back to current stamps tomorrow... I just didn't want these to get missed out.

In the meantime, don't forget about the new product line from Stampin' Up!

Little Lambies

At Christmas I made the little Scored Hershey Kisses Christmas Tree by Brenda Quintana and my Mother-in-Law wanted some for her Sunday School ladies group.  She loved them so much that she wanted something cute for Easter.  These adorable little lambs were inspired by Frenchie - France Martin.  The picture below isn't completely finished.  I decided to add a little pearl as a nose after the photo was taken.

This little guy was made by cutting two (2) of the scalloped tags from Two Tags Bigz Die (115954), 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch (119854), Previous Small Oval - it was longer and skinny (now retired) - can also use the current Small Oval Punch (120908), Boho Blossoms Punch (119858) and three (3) Word Window Punch (119857) and googly eyes (now retired too).  The ribbon is Regal Rose 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Run one of the Two Tags cuts through the Big Shot using Perfect Polka Dots (117335).  I also put some other paper in Whisper White through and then punched them with the Scallop Circle and Boho Blossom.  Cut off 4 of the little points from the Boho, just cut straight across.  I tried doing it at a curve and it looked terrible.  You'll also need to cut a bit of the oval off so the little face isn't too long.

So, below you'll see 21 little lambs and two Easter Baskets (yet to be filled with goodies) for Mom and Sister-in-law.  The basket also came from Frenchie.  Thanks Frenchie, you have the BEST ideas!!!

I'll show better pictures of the baskets with information about them tomorrow.

Thanks so much for checking in today!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Guest Stamper - Linda's Easter Cards

After our workshop last weekend at Barbie's, Linda decided to apply our Frosted Pearl Background on her Easter Cards.  I think they came out beautifully!  I only wish they would photograph a little better.

Thank you Linda for letting me take the pictures and share!  I just love them!

Stamp set used is Everybunny (w-122705 / c-122707) still current in our Annual Catalog and for the 3rd card is a retired stamp from last year.  It sure works well for this card though!

Here's how you achieve this beautiful background.

  • Pour a bit of Frost White Shimmer Paint onto a plastic tray or paper plate.
  • Scrunch up some plastic wrap, keep it loose for a nice design.  Dab it into the paint picking up just a bit.  Stamp it off on to the side of the tray to be sure you don't have too much.  You just want a light coating.
  • Gently dab onto Whisper White card stock until it is covered the way you want it to look.
  • Let it dry and stamp your flowers or design on top.
Thanks for looking in today... have a great and hopefully creative weekend!

Photopolymer Stamps - i LOVE them!

I received my new Photopolymer Stamps and had a chance to play with them a bit.  I have to say, I'm absolutely THRILLED with them.  Here's a quick little card I made with them to test them out.  I really hope these go over well because I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see more of them.

  • They stick like crazy to the clear block and won't go flying off across the table.
  • They stamp clearly and beautifully.
  • They are so easy to line up and stamp exactly where you want them - no more guessing if you did the "stamp-a-majig" right or if you're lined up where you think you should be.

Here's a quick card I did last weekend.

Card Stock:  Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
DSP: Summer Smooches (125409)
Ribbon: 1/8" Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon (119254)

Make a Monster Birthday

Here is the other card we made at Barbie's workshop this weekend.  Thank you to Kristi for lending me this stamp set.  Not having little one's around to make this for, I just don't have the need for many kids' sets.  Barbie wanted a little boy card for a birthday coming up, so here's what I found.

This card is an Easel Card that stands up by opening and sliding the cover behind the ribbon so it stands up without falling over.  I saw the idea for the monsters on Splitcoast Stampers but the person didn't have a watermark and I didn't realize it until after I had it printed out and at home ready to try my version.  I changed a few things to go with the supplies and stamps I had available.

Start with an 8 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of card stock.  Score it at 4 1/4" and at 6 3/8".  The card will still end up as the standard 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

The main part of the card (real red here) is 5 1/4" x 4",
Watercolor paper at 5" x 3 3/4".
Polka dot paper is 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" - for the sets I made for the workshop, I made the dotted paper at 4" instead to get more out of a sheet without having so much waste.

Punch your "moon" out of  Gumball Green and Lucky Limeade with the 2 1/2" punch.  Use the 3/4" circle, the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and the 1/2" circle to make craters on the moon.

To know where to stamp your monsters (aka aliens) lightly trace the "moon" onto the watercolor paper so you can position your monsters exactly where you want either using the Stamp-a-Majig for wood or the Clear Mount stamps.  THIS would be a perfect card to have had the Photopolymer CLEAR stamps!

Stamp the "stars" using the dots from French Foliage.

Stamps Well With Others Recipe:

Stamps:  French Foliage (w-120845 / c-121166), Make a Monster (w-118742 / c-120606)
Card Stock:  Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Real Red, Gumball Green, Lucky Limeade
DSP:  Polka Dot Parade (126902), Sunshine and Sprinkles (126922)*
Ink:  Tempting Turquoise, Stampin' Write Markers:  Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Real Red
Accessories:  Soda Pop Tops (129388)*, 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (Real Red), Google Eyes (retired from Holiday Mini)
Tools:  Big Shot (for smashing the pop tops!), Curly Label Punch (119851), Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (118309), 1/2" Circle Punch (119869), 3/4" Circle Punch (119873), 1" Circle Punch (119868).

Thanks for looking in... Sorry for the long details!  :)

Frosted Pearl Background

The other night I was looking for inspiration for one more project for my Saturday's workshop and I came across this beautiful card which I totally CASED!  I told the girls it was a Faux  Mother of Pearl, where I got that I have no idea since I looked back at the original post for this and it's called Frosted Pearl!  Guess I need to read slower!  haha!

So, may I present, Frosted Pearl Background Technique as discovered through Angie Leach, who received it from one of her team members, Kathe Madsen.  The second photo shows the detail a bit better.  It is even more beautiful in real life.

I think most of the girls were planning to make this their Mother's Day cards for their special Mom's.

For the card above:

Stamps:  Love & Sympathy (w-122795 / c-122797)
Card Stock:  Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Whisper White
Stampin' Write Markers:  Wild Wasabi, Elegant Eggplant
Accessories:  Fancy Fan Embossing Folder (127751), Frost White Shimmer Paint (116854)

Thank you for looking in today.  Tomorrow I'll post the other cute card we made at this weekend's workshop.  Thank you to Barbie for a wonderful workshop!  It was so much fun with so much great food!
