Oh, Hello Swap Card

Here is my swap card from our team meeting at the end of February.  Isn't she just adorable?

Chickies need a safe place to be, so she has a "chicken wire"  background made with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder (129378).  Perfect!

To make the "chicken wire" run ink on the inside of the Honeycomb Embossing folder on the side tha sticks UP.  This doesn't have to be perfect to make it look a bit shabby.

Place your cardstock - I used Delightful Dijon - on the clean side and carefully close the inked side over onto the cardstock.

Hold firmly in place.

You can either rub your hand over it, which works well, or use the bottom of your Multi-purpose glue bottle.  A bone folder would also work well.  I tried using one of my clear blocks but found it tended to scuff up the block.

Open to find your "chicken wire".  Ta Da!

Here is the rest of the Recipe:

Base - Basic Black - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Delightful Dijon - 5 1/4" x 4"
Ribbon - 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Basic Black (138430) - about 7 inches - wrap around Delightful Dijon and tape to the back.
Very Vanilla scraps - for stamping sentiment and punching with Washi Label Punch (138296)

Very Vanilla 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" (see instructions below to make scallop)
Delightful Dijon - 2 7/8" x 2 7/8"
So Saffron - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"

Stamps - Honeycomb Happiness - FREE from Sale-a-bration (wood - 141288 / clear mount 141291)
Ink - Memento Black
Stampin' Write Marker - Pumpkin Pie (for beak and feet)
Wink of Stella - Clear (141897) to color all of the chickie.

To make the square scallop:

And here they are just before going into my bag for my swap!

  1. FUN! So, you just didn't emboss with the Big Shot but just inked up the EF and pressed it so the ink transferred and didn't do the embossing!?! I have seen others who inked and embossed on both. This is a fun idea. When I looked at each photo separately I could see the Stella Wink stuff on the chick - sort of a like a PEEP with sugar! I like the scalloped square too and thanks for the tips on making that too. You are just so full ideas! Who wouldn't love to see this little guy in a swap or in the mail? Love the colors too.

  2. Thank You! You're right, I only inked the EF and pressed it down - no Big Shot Embossing for this one. I just wanted the look of chicken wire.

I just LOVE the Clear Wink of Stella. The Gold, not so much, unless used on the right paper. It seems to bold to me. I just want the pretty glimmer. Isn't a PEEP covered in sugar already? LOL

I look forward to your comments each day! Thank you for the encouragement you provide!
