Happy Birthday Thinlits

If you've seen the new In Colors for 2017 - 2019, you may notice that a couple of them are pretty close to some current colors.  Berry Burst is kind of a mix of Rose Red and Melon Mambo (at least to me) and the Powder Pink is kind of like Pink Pirouette.

But, I wanted to see them together with our watercolor pencils and the Happy Birthday Thinlit.  I love layering that thing, it's just so pretty when done right!

Recipe:
Powder Pink - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Berry Burst - 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White - 5" x 3 3/4"

Using my watercolor pencils - Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry (which seems close to Fresh Fig) and Daffodil Delight, I simply colored big swatches of each color, over lapping a bit into the Daffodil in the middle.

Then with my Aqua Painter, I painted back and forth in each color, blending just a bit in the overlap.  Clean your brush before going to the next color though it will all look muddied up.

The best trick for putting Liquid Adhesive on the thinlits, I used my Silicon Sheet, a sponge wedge and gently dabbed it on to the back of the die cut.  The trick is to NOT let your cut out move or it will get glue on the front and that is what you want to avoid.  This works so well, it just amazes me!

Then, carefully put the two together and ta-da!

Thank  you for looking in today!  Have a great day!

    1. Thank you Marie! Hey you should join us on May 20th at my house, if you don't have an event that day. Workshop got moved from Sue's to my house. She's going to do November instead.

  2. Beautiful card - thanks for the glue hints about using the Silicon sheet (which I love) for this die cut. GlendaJ

    1. Glenda, thank you for your comments! I love my Silicon sheet as well. It works great for so many things and now for this too!

  3. Love this card! You could use blue and green or browns for a masculine birthday card. You could use other shapes for the guys instead of the hearts. DO you have any embelishments left from the nailed it set, they could go on the man's birthday card. But these colors are a great way of showing the new colors. I like ROse Red but something about Melon Mambo I don't care for so maybe I will like this new color better. I have been using the glue on the silicone mat using the sponge for quite awhile now and it works so well. That has to be one my favorite tips! I keep my sponge from that in one of my test strip containers that is marked on the top!

    1. Thank you Chris! You are so right, you could use so many color combinations. I love Melon Mambo, it's been a favorite since I first saw it. Rose Red is gorgeous too, just more subdued.

Love your idea of using the test strip container! Nothing more airtight than that. I've got mine in a small zipper bag, I guess it's a jewelry bag.
