Just a Little Something With the Curvy Corner Trio Punch

This is one of the cards we'll be making at Mary's workshop this weekend.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Mary and I spotted the banner on Connie Stewart's blog and wanted to give it a try for Saturday.  It uses the Curvy Corner Trio Punch (139683) with a little trick on making it look so awesome!  Thank you Connie for your great inspiration!  I've done a pictorial tutorial below, but feel free to check out Connie's videos.

Recipe:
Bermuda Bay - 11" x 4 1/4", scored and folded at 5 1/2"
Smoky Slate - 5 1/4" x 4"
Designer Series Paper (Have a Cuppa - 140567) - 5" x 3 3/4"
Bermuda Bay 1/8" Stitched Ribbon (about 16 inches.

Inside is the leftover paper from cutting the DSP for the outside:

Smoky Slate - 5 1/4" x 2 1/2"
DSP - 5" x 2 1/4"

Inside panel - Whisper White - 5 1/4" x 4" - punch the corners with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch

To make the pocket on the inside, staple the Smoky Slate around the edges.  Don't worry, you will cover them with DSP and on the front of the card they will be covered as well.  Yes, you could use Tear and Tape or Tombo Liquid Glue, but these staples work well and they are easy to hide!

To make the cute banner on the front, take a 1" side strip of Whisper White.  The length will be whatever size you need to use your choice of sentiment.

Carefully slide the strip into the punch as shown below.  Be sure it is all the way in and flush all the way to the right side.  Punch.

It will look like this:

Move the strip over to the other side, again being sure to have it all the way in and all the way to the left this time.

The mat for your banner will be a 1 3/4" strip and two 1 3/4" Circle punches.

Line the circle punch up on one end and then place your Whisper White over the top.

Trim off the excess mat.  In this picture below, I cut it where you can see the 7 1/2" mark (that's just where it happens to sit on the cutting mat).  Then attach your other circle behind the 1 3/4" strip.  I believe Connie put hers on the top, but this seemed a little less visible to me.

Thank you for looking in today.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me!

Happy Friday!

  1. I saw this on Connie's blog and watched the video. Looks very doable and fun. I wasn't going to get that punch thinking would I really use it that much? But seeing your card reminded me that inside that piece looks great with the corners punches. My friend Pam adores my cards and often asks me to make her some to send out. She usually requests a white or vanilla layer inside so she can write a note. Some of her older friends love the cards but have trouble reading the notes on darker cardstock. This is a simple but cool idea to that. I still think that circle on the sentiment was a clever idea. So, I bet I get that punch to try this out. Plus your card is so fun to hold a gift card or maybe a little tea bag esp. since your used the tea cup DP! I never staple them but if they are covered like yours I just might do that sometime. Thanks for the measurements. Love this idea for get well inserting a tea bag and maybe using one of the little tea charms to the bow. Card club meets Monday nite and I bet that punch will be my order!

    1. Thank you so much Chris! I love reading your comments.

I don't know why I decided to staple it this time, I normally don't, but something said "go for it!" LOL I think the staples would be especially helpful if you did want to put a teabag in, it would certainly not pull loose with the thicker insert.

I held back on getting this punch as well, and now I wish I'd picked it up sooner. Like you, I love the inside look!

      Thanks again!
