A Beautiful Groovy Ride

Here is another card from our weSTAMP team meeting from a couple of weeks ago.  Isn't it just adorable!

Now, I can see you are thinking.... I don't remember a convertible VW Bug in the catalog!  You would be correct!  We snipped and made it a convertible!  Cool, huh?

We started by stamping the car and then using sponge daubers to give it a great tie-died look.  To keep from coloring the wheels with "tie die" we punched a piece of post-it note to mask the wheel.  After we had the colors we wanted, we did a fussy cut and cut out the bug.  Cutting straight across the window to the back and at the top of the windshield in the front.

Stamp the dog and color him with Stampin' Write markers and then when you cut him out, cut a bit of a tab below him so you have a way to glue him down inside the car.

So Cute!

Thank you for looking in today and thank you to Lorri for this cute card!

  1. Cool! Love the tie die convertible. What dud you use to adhere the honeycomb piece? Of course I love the dog but the enamel dots for the hubcaps are great too. I bet that was so much fun with the daubers. Just a really fun card for the right person. I can hear George Carlin saying, "Groovy Man, way cool!"

Do you have art cars there? This would be perfect for an art car parade invitation or for a poster advertising the parade. I think lately there are just a few in regaular parades. The past art director at the community center (by my house) used to drive hers all the time and there would be glitter on the pavement where she parked now and then!

  2. The Honeycomb piece has adhesive on each side If you were to mail the card, you would just adhere one side down and on the other side write "remove backing, open and adhere". For the life of me I had something else I wrote on thank you cards I made, but can't come up with the words right now. ha ha!

I don't believe we have any art cars or parades here, but I can just see the glitter flying off the cars and on the street!

  3. Thanks for the info on the honeycomb things. I have a few that came in an embellishment share but haven't really looked at them yet.

I can't remember what all the cars I have seen but there was some really fun ones. Some resembled things like a banana or a guitar. One had a big bunch of gargoyles on it which I didn't quite understand.

Oh, and I found a little stamp of a sheep and it even has a THANK EWE with it! I could make it a 3x3 card since it is a mini stamp!
