Washi Tape Background

I saw this done by Angie Leach with Too Cool Stamping and could hardly wait to try it.  I enjoy Washi Tape, but then have a tendency to not use it as much as I want to.  Now with the end of the Annual Catalog and the current Washi Tape retiring, it's time to use it or lose it.

This is such an easy way to make a beautiful background.

Start with a piece of  Whisper White  cardstock - 5" x 3 3/4".  I used my Silicon Mat to make this even easier.  If you don't have a Silicon Mat, then use a clean tabletop.  Don't lay it on a piece of paper as it will sometimes pull up when you lift the finished project.

Begin by applying one strip of Washi Tape diagonally across the center of the cardstock.  Then continue alternating with a different tape side by side with the starting strip. After I finished laying out the tape, I wrapped the ends around the back.

The next layer is Basic Black measuring 5 1/8" x 3 7/8".  I used Tear and Tape to make sure it stayed down nice and tight since the Washi Tape has such a smooth finish.

I used some Whisper White scraps and placed more Washi Tape on the scraps, then punched them out with the Balloon Punch from the Party Punch Pack (retiring) then popped them up with dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped onto a strip of Whisper White 3 3/4" x 1" strip.  The sentiment is from Wetlands.  Can you believe I just purchased that set?  I've been putting it off forever and when I saw it wasn't retiring, I put it in my basket right away!

Thank you for looking in today.  Have a Blessed Sunday!  ~ Donna

  1. Love the Washi tape on the diagonal. So bright and cheery. Then, adding the balloons just brought it over the top! Love the print on the balloons to go with the striped Washi tape. Well done on this fun and festive card!

  2. Thank you Chris. The washi tap really is fun to use. I should use it more often and will be working on that. Especially when the new catalog becomes available!
