Ugly Sweater Season

A while ago Sue Parker (Sparkled Stamps) from our weSTAMP team created and posted an awesome Buttoned Up Sweater Card that she'd made and shared.  It was so much fun that she did a Make & Take at team meeting earlier this week.  Thank you Sue, it was so much fun!

When I was talking to my stampers about it, Linda suggested, what about making "an ugly sweater".  Lights when off in my head and last night when I went home I started working on it!

Here is my version (there are SO MANY COMBINATIONS) of an Ugly Sweater.  This is actually my second attempt.  My first attempt is below - but it wasn't ugly enough, so #2 takes first place.

The paper I used is the 6" x 6" Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack.  For this card, the front and back of one sheet were used perfectly.  Begin by cutting a width of 4 1/4", then cut that piece to 5 1/2".

The strip on the side will be used for the pocket and the band across the bottom and the v-neck.  Use your scoreboard to mark the bumpy strips or if you have a crimper, you can run them through there very slowly.

Full measurements are on Sue's Blog
(I just realized as I went to post this that I didn't give you the card base instructions!).

Then just add whatever you can find to make your sweater the perfect bit of "ugly".

I cut out bits from Candy Cane Christmas Designer Series Paper, punched out candies with my 1/2" circle punch, the Reindeer from Cookie Cutter Christmas and Cookie Cutter punch. Christmas Trinkets Embellishments, and Gold Bakers Twine

The possibilities are unlimited!  Just have FUN with it!

Thank you for looking in today and a big Thank YOU to Sue Parker from Sparkled Stamps!

  1. At first I just saw the photos and not the title and wondered what the heck is this? What kind of comment can I make? Say that it is "different" or unique? Then I scrolled up and saw the title and read and had a good chuckle. Whew, now I can say this was fun and a great post for a laugh. Too bad you couldn't have used a battery operated light for Rudolph's nose to make it glow on and off! Also, maybe a bit more glamour and bling? This would make a fun blog hop! Mary Fish did an ugly sweater last year but didn't have the cable EF. Imagine the fun you could have making it longer to fit a legal sized envelope in embelishing the sweater. Wait was there any pompoms on there - I really dislike pompoms on sweaters! I went to Sue Parker's blog and saw her pretty sweater. Love those buttons. This was a perfect ending for a weird week we have been having. Thanks Donna for the laugh. I think Brian King needs to have a blog hop of ugly sweaters!

    1. LOL Chris! I bet you were struggling to find something nice to say with that ugly card facing you! ha ha ha! I'll have to go back and look at Mary's post from last year. I do remember something about that. So much fun.

Going to let the girls just have a pile of things to put on it at the workshop next Saturday. It should be fun to see what they come up with.

Ooohhh Pom Pom's. I'm going to go order some right now for the workshop. WE have Whisper White mini pompom trim that will make it hideous, I mean, perfect!
