Poodle Skirt Blast from the Past

You are simply going to FLIP when you see this card.  I only wish I could take credit for it.  It is SO STINKIN' CUTE!!

The idea comes from Bernadette Baio who shared the card - plus others - with Dawn Olchefske who posted it on facebook.

Check this out!

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Mambo Melon - begin with 5 1/2" x 4" (cutting instructions below)

Basic Black - 3/4" x 2 1/8" (to be trimmed as needed)
Basic Black - Cut with Stitched Shapes - smallest square

Using a sharp blade, cut two slits for the strip to weave through.

For the first one I left the belt straight across the way Bernadette did.  I think it defines a more defined waist.  Silly me, on the 2nd one I trimmed the belt to match the skirt and really don't like it.  Trial and Error, right?

The birthday sentiment comes from Butterfly Basics.  The Pearl and Rhinestones are from the old "style" before they were "reconfigured" them this year, which makes it much easier to make the cute leash.

A Special Thank You to Bernadette Baio and to Dawn Olchefske for sharing this fabulous card!  I'm still giddy about how cute it is!

Thank you for looking in today!  Happy Thursday!

  1. All you need is a pair of bobby socks and tennis shoes and maybe a short sleeved sweater with an initial on it! What a great use for the pearls and rhinestones that are in a line - a leash! I didn't have a poodle skirt but I know my mom made one for our neighbor. It was a white poodle on a light pink skirt with a matching twin sweater set. Mom used one of my stuffed poodles for an idea to cut out the felt poodle. Actually she had a couple poodles on there. My stuffed animal had legs that could bend to show movement so she had one sitting or standing (?) and one running on her skirt. I think it had a wide black belt too. I love how you used the stitched framelits for the buckle part. I love those and I think I use them the most out of the framelits I have. Of course though I don't even have the regular circles or square shaped ones. FUN!

    1. Thank you Chris! I had so much fun figuring out how to make this. I'm so glad the Dawn posted it and Bernadette made it originally. Why can't I think of these things? LOL... I guess once in a while I do, but this was just over the top cute!

I didn't have a poodle skirt either, I wasn't old enough yet. I remember doing the Nifty Fifties at high school and some of the girls wore them for that. Those were the good ol' days!
