Butterflies Thinlits Birthday with Blooms

Isn't it wonderful that the Butterfly Framelits are available?  Have you picked up yours yet?  Even better news is that they carried over into the 2015 Catalog along with the Butterfly Basics stamp set!  Yayyy!

Today's cards are super simple and so beautiful!  You may think these are both the same, but they are just a little different.

For this one, the Painted Blooms Designer Series is cut 5 3/8" x 4 1/8", Whisper White is 5 1/8" x 3 7/8".  Stamp your sentiment across the bottom before doing anything else.

I also placed Stampin' Dimensionals under the Whisper White, being sure to also put some randomly around the butterfly cut out so it doesn't sag.

Die cut the medium butterfly from the framelits, carefully removing it and leaving the perfect space behind.  Attach just the body of the butterfly down the middle and let the wings pop up a bit.

On this  one the DSP is 5 1/4" x 4" and the Whisper White remains the same.

Birthday Bash - Use Those Scraps

With new paper and colors in the very near future, it's time to start using up some of those Designer Series Papers (DSP).  So that's just what I did with this card, with a little tilt to the layout too.

Simply gather those scraps from your DSP stash and put them to use on matching card stock.  Stamp a sentiment, on a scrap of Whisper White of course, and you are all done!

How about adding a little color to the inside with those smaller pieces?  Cut them to fit, give them a little banner tail, and you have a great looking card!

Remember the envelope too, if you have a big enough piece of scrap paper.  Add some adhesive of choice to the envelope flap and put some DSP there as well.  

Don't forget, if you use balloons, be sure they are attached the right way for when the envelope is closed.  Been there, done that!

Curvy Keepsake Graduation

How's this for cute!?

I spotted someone else make a Mortarboard (Graduation Cap) from the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits.  Good News... these thinlits are IN the new catalog!  Wooo Hooo!

I didn't see any instructions, so I made up my own.

Once you've made the box using Basic Black card stock (or whatever color you may use to match your graduates' school colors.

Cut the top of your cap into a 3 1/2" square.  Make a slice with a craft knife in the center of the square.  Make it no longer than 1 3/8" long.  The outside edge of the slice is approximately 1 3/4" in from the corner.  

Slip the top over the handles and tuck under the handles so it stays in place.  That is why you want your slice no bigger than 1 3/8" wide.  If it is too big, it won't stay tight.

 Make a tassel with 1/8" Taffeta ribbon.  I wrapped mine around a two inch wide strip.

Then tied another piece of ribbon around one end as tightly as possible.

Snip open the loops and cut to desired length.

Attach to cap with a mini glue dot and top it with a pearl.

Heat emboss your favorite sentiment on top.  Seems so many kids now decorate the top of their Mortarboards so their families can find them in the sea of caps and gowns!

Fill them with treats for your graduate, maybe cash?  Wouldn't that be fun to find inside!

Now, off you go to make some before it's too late - don't miss your special graduates!

Graduation time

Can you believe it's Graduation Time again?  Today I have a couple of simple yet classy Graduation cards that will work for any type of graduation regardless of school colors.

Recipe:

Basic Black 11" x 4 1/4" and scored at 5 1/2"

DSP:  Back to Black - 1 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Whisper White - 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" (sort of... I'll show you another day how I easily stamped this first and then cut)

Inside Whisper White 5 1/4" x 4"

Stamp Set:  Class of 2015, Bravo

Don't forget to decorate the envelope!  Dress it up with matching DSP on the flap and a small stamp on the front of the envelope.

I'm going to miss this stamp when June 2nd arrives, so I'm using it wherever I can!  This will probably be one of the stamps that will stay in my collection, at least for a little while.  I'm not ready to part with it!

Recipe:

Card Base: Basic Black - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score at 4 1/4"
Whisper White 5 1/4" x 4"
DSP - Adventure Bound Stack 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"

Stamp From the Herd onto Whisper White or Watercolor Paper and color the critters you want to use.  Fussy cut them with your Paper Snips - leaving extra paper at the bottom so you can attach them to the inside of the wood grain.

Punch holes into the wood grain DSP with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  Attach Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the DSP - remembering to include Dimensionals around the circles you punched as well, so they stand up and don't sag.

Stamp sentiment of your choice onto Whisper White and then use Word Bubbles Framelits to cut out the sentiment.  Be sure you have the "pointy thing" facing towards one of the circle punches.

On this card, I tried to color the eyes a darker blue and they came out really scary!  Since I'd already cut them out, I had to find a solution.  I remembered I had googly eyes.  To the rescue!  I also had bigger borders on this one downsizing 1/4" each time - White 5 1/4" x 4"; DSP 5" x 3 3/4"

Remember the inside and stamp the whole herd at the bottom of your inside card stock (5 1/4" x 4")

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's on this special day set aside just for them!

I'll be going out to breakfast with my boys, very early Sunday Morning as they both work night shifts and even though one has the day off, the other will be off work at 7 a.m. and we're meeting for breakfast at 7:30 a.m.  Sounds early, but we should miss the Sunday morning / Mother's Day crowd.  

At the time of writing this (10:30 p.m. Saturday for posting at Midnight), I'm so excited to get together with my boys tomorrow.  They have such busy lives, it's hard to get quality time with them.

Now, on to the card for today.  Although this was made as a birthday card, I think it could easily be a Mother's Day card as well.  I wonder if we can have ice cream after breakfast??  hmmmm.  

Everything you see here - except for the ribbon - is brand new goodies from the 2015 Annual Catalog.  I love being a demonstrator and getting to order sneak peek items early!

The DSP comes in a 6" x 6" pad and it is called Cherry on Top.  The stamp set is the cutest Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) set I've seen.  SOOO many things to do with it.  I hope you will all consider purchasing it first thing.  Each stamp set purchased sends $3.00 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The card stock is Mint Macaron (that's not a typo), Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe and the cone is Crumb Cake.
