Happiness with a Friend

Before we know it, the new Annual Catalog will be here and that means now is the time to use up the Designer Series Papers to make room for new ones.  This is one of my favorites so it will be sad to say goodbye, but knowing Stampin' Up! there will be a lot of new fun papers to play with.

Recipe:
Crumb Cake - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Basic Black - 5 1/4" x 4"
Coffee Break DSP -  5 1/8" x 3 7/8"

Stamps:  Coffee Cafe - Sentiment stamped onto Crumb Cake
Ink: Memento Black

I hand snipped the sentiment into strips.  I wasn't careful to be straight and clean, it just didn't need to be.  Plus, that "p" in "cup" hangs down a bit, so that meant no straight line there! 

Don't forget to give the envelope flap a little love.  

One day closer to the weekend.  I'm really looking forward to Saturday.  My daughter-in-law has invited me to join her for a glass blowing class with her Mom and Sister.  I'm really looking forward to going and spending time with my new Daughter!

Spinner Coffee and Tutorial

On Saturday when we had Mary's workshop, we made the Birthday Spinner Cards (but apparently I called it a "slider" card in this post here) one of the girls suggested how cute it would be to make a card with a Coffee Theme.  So here is one I started with.  Watch for more!

Recipe:
Garden Green - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Designer Series Paper - 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White or Very Vanilla 5" x 3 3/4" (to give strength to the DSP) - adhere this to the back of the DSP.  

Place the two pieces into the Big Shot and using just one end of the Barn Door Slider Framelit, center just one of the slider cuts on the card and run through the Big Shot only until cut then reverse the plates back out to prevent a dent.  

You will need:

Two - #6 Washers - can be found at any hardware store

One - Mini Stampin' Dimensional

One (or two if you wish) strong cardstock circles - I used Watercolor Paper 3/4"

Adhere the washer to the 3/4" circle with glue dots.

Add a mini-dimensional (be sure all of these are carefully centered)

Place behind the slider opening:

Then attach the 2nd watercolor circle with glue dots.

To help the slider function to work smoothly, you will want to use our Foam Adhesive Strips.  This is how I put them on my cards to make them work nice and easy.

Bosses Day

So, this is what you do when you need to make a card and only have a little time to do it, but not enough time at home.  You grab what you want to use (hopefully you have an idea) paper, ink, stamps, and DSP, throw it into a shoebox and off to work you go.

Get there early enough, before the boss, of course and start cutting, inking and stamping!  Oh and FYI, I keep supplies at work (paper trimmer, snips, glue, dimensionals, etc.). You never know when you have to whip up a fast card.  I also have some old retired sets of stamps that are multi-use to cover any occasion.  Boy has that ever come in handy!

So, forgive the background behind the card, it's my work desk.

Recipe: 
Whisper White Thick Cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Coffee Break Designer Series Paper - 5 1/4" x 4
Whisper White for cup and sleeve (sentiment)
Ink:  Soft Suede, Garden Green and Chocolate Chip

Since I didn't take my dies or my Big Shot, so I simply fussy cut the cup and the coffee sleeve.

I masked around the coffee cup before fussy cutting it with Post It notes so that I could sponge the iced coffee inside (with Soft Suede).

Now, what we need is a permanent "Happy Bosses Day" stamp that can be used with any other stamp set. Since we don't have one... I just wrote it inside.  It works.

So I finished it up, put it on his keyboard and went about my day.  He was at meetings at our other facility, so I wasn't sure when he would be in his office.  Naturally he came in while I was down the hall in our little office kitchen.  Drats.  I wanted to hear him open it!  Oh well, he liked it and thanked me for it and has it sitting on his desk. 

Well, it's time to get to bed (Monday night).  I really need to be in bed sooner and get more sleep!

Ready for Christmas (for a Birthday)

I had a special request for a birthday card for a co-worker's daughter.  When I asked her what type of things she liked such as flowers, butterflies, etc.  She said she like dachshunds as they had them growing up and I immediately thought of "Ready for Christmas" and the sweet little dog there.  So here is what I came up with.
