Look Who's Turning...

Yesterday's card was one of two that we made today at our January Workshop.   Today's card is the second card the girls made.  Each person made the number on their card according to their needs.  Mine will probably go to my youngest son who will be turning 30 in a month.  HOW is that possible, I can't have two adult children!  Yikes!

Actually, looking at the colors, I think I need to change up the colors and do something more masculine.  Mint Macaron just doesn't cut it!

You can see the shimmer on the card above where I used my Wink of Stella (clear) pen.  I love this pen, it is so much fun to use to add spark to anything.

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick Card Stock - 11" x 4 1/4", scored and folded at 5 1/2"
Crushed Curry for the Banner and Balloons
Mint Macaron for the Circle
It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack

The 30 is actually popped up with craft foam.  To see the details on how I did this, check my earlier post HERE.

To make the "arch" for stamping the "Look Who's Turning", I used the Circles Framelits.  I used the largest circle and then skipped one and used the next one.  Put the two together and carefully center the smaller one inside the larger one and you have the perfect size and curve for this stamp.

It's big enough to make three arches.  My sample is white, but we used Crushed Curry for the card.  Then just simply snip the sentiment out and pop it up on the card.

Kentucky Derby Hats

Today is Kentucky Derby Day as well as my May workshop.  So, I wanted to make it a fun and special day and bring the Derby Theme into it.

Each of the girls will receive one of these at their seat.  I've got a special lunch menu planned as well making mini Louisville Hot Browns.  Pictures tomorrow after the party.

These were fairly easy to make and I think they will make a fun addition to the tables tomorrow!

I cut the outside brim of the hat using the scallop circle from the Circles Collection Framelits.  Then using the 4th Circle up from the smallest to the largest I cut out matching DSP.

I cut it from a 1/2 sheet of card stock (8 1/2" x 5 1/2") at one end. The remainder of the card stock is used for underneath.

Decorate with ribbon, flowers, whatever you have to make it beautiful!

I just realized I don't have a picture of how to put the back together, so I'm going to share the video with you that I used to learn how to do the treat door.  This is Dawn Griffith and her video.  The trick for doing the door starts just before the three minute mark.  Big thanks to Dawn for her video!
