Sneaky Foil Paper

Here's a little tip.  Foil cardstock and Liquid Glue do not play well together.  Now, most of you know, I use our Mono Multipurpose Glue for just about everything, so of course I would do it with card as well.  I attached the top layer with the butterfly and Embossing Paste to the foil layer with our "green glue" aka Mono Multipurpose Glue.  For new stampers, no, the glue is not green, but the bottle is green and white and it's so much easier to just say "green glue".

Before you say, well, you should have laid it flat to dry so it wouldn't slide like that.  Guess what, I did!  Then I left it alone and worked on my emails for a bit.  When I turned around again to take pictures for posting, I found this:

Arrrghhh!  So, I tried again.  Mind you, I had planned on making two card, so the measurements are all the same, I cut two of each ahead of time.

THIS is what it was supposed to look like.  So, for this card, I attached the top layer to the foil later with Tear and Tape and it didn't budge!

The background is made with our new Embossing Paste and a couple of drops of Pool Party re-inker.  I simply mixed it together on my Silicon Sheet and gently spread it onto the Whisper White and set it aside to dry.  Being thicker than it would be with a stencil, I gave it plenty of time to dry.  You could help it along with your Heat Gun, but not really necessary.  ** The cardstock WILL curl a bit, but don't worry, it will flatten back out.

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Foil cardstock 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White - 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
Whisper White scraps for sentiment

Remember, use your "hidden" foil to cut out your butterfly - or anything else you can fit in there for another day.  No point wasting all that pretty paper!

Garden in Bloom Gratefulness

This is another beautiful pack of paper that will be going away the end of May and another one I'll have a hard time saying goodbye to.  So, it's time to use it and enjoy it then share it with others in the form of cards.

Last week at our team meeting I was honored to receive a beautiful card from my upline, Lorri Heiling, for having the highest sales for June.  I was also thrilled to be named Demonstrator of the Year for our Team - weSTAMP while we were at Convention.  Lorri was sweet enough to put it on her blog here.  Extra thanks go to all of you, my customers, for helping me achieve that award!  Thank you!

So, back to the card from Lorri.  The card was so beautiful, I had to make several of them.  I believe Lorri used Smoky Slate, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzazz.  I wanted to try some other colors so chose Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Mint Macaron (stamped off once).

Recipe:

Base - Whisper White Thick cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Layer - Whisper White cardstock - 5 1/4" x 4"

Stamps:  Work of Art, A Dozen Thoughts, Happy Happenings, One Big Meaning
Ink:  Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Mint Macaron

Tools & Accessories:  Butterflies Framelits, Pearl Basic Jewels, Stamp-a-majig

Stamp your favorite colors using the Stamp-a-majig so they line up perfectly, then using the Butterflies framelits cut out the butterfly, being careful to keep matched sets together if you are making more than one.

Pop the layer up with dimensionals around the edges and around the edges of the butterfly outline, then glue the center of the butterfly down to the card base.

Dress with pearls or rhinestones and you have a beautiful card for any occasion.

Butterflies Thinlits Birthday with Blooms

Isn't it wonderful that the Butterfly Framelits are available?  Have you picked up yours yet?  Even better news is that they carried over into the 2015 Catalog along with the Butterfly Basics stamp set!  Yayyy!

Today's cards are super simple and so beautiful!  You may think these are both the same, but they are just a little different.

For this one, the Painted Blooms Designer Series is cut 5 3/8" x 4 1/8", Whisper White is 5 1/8" x 3 7/8".  Stamp your sentiment across the bottom before doing anything else.

I also placed Stampin' Dimensionals under the Whisper White, being sure to also put some randomly around the butterfly cut out so it doesn't sag.

Die cut the medium butterfly from the framelits, carefully removing it and leaving the perfect space behind.  Attach just the body of the butterfly down the middle and let the wings pop up a bit.

On this  one the DSP is 5 1/4" x 4" and the Whisper White remains the same.

Mother's Day Butterflies

I have another Mother's Day card to share, although it could be any kind of card since I put the sentiment on the inside.

The pattern on this was used in a previous post HERE - complete with measurements.  

Today I used the Park Lane DSP again, but chose the one with the small Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight flowers.

Don't forget the inside!  The additional butterfly inside is from Butterfly Basics (which will be carrying over to the new Annual Catalog with the Butterfly Thinlits! Yayyy!)

I also decorated the envelope to give a little color to the outside.

Love the added bling of the Rhinestones.

Butterflies Thinlits and Louisville Hot Browns

Today's workshop was small but fun.  After I got the girls started on their projects, I was in the kitchen making our Louisville Hot Browns.

First, one of the cards we made.  This is one I posted a little bit ago.  To see full details with measurements, see it HERE.  For today's workshop though, we added the Butterfly from the Butterflies Thinlits Dies which are finally available for ordering again.

My sample for today simply added a plain vellum butterfly, but Brittney took it a step further and sponged the edges with Strawberry Slush.  Linda loved it so much, she had Brittney add it to hers.  

The girls also decided to stamp their sentiments on Whisper White and then punched them out with Word Window and then punched out Strawberry Slush with the Modern Label (which is retiring!).

They are both so beautiful!

Now, on to lunch!  Since Saturday was Kentucky Derby Day, I decided to make something that would be on a Derby Day menu.  Louisville Hot Brown.  They came out wonderfully!  I'd made them once before on full size artisan rolls and hubby and I loved them.  For this, I wanted them to be more bite-sized so found the cocktail breads and this is how they looked.

Yummy!  If you'd like the recipe I used, let me know, I'll be glad to share it.  We also had brownies and a small veggie tray.

Park Lane Butterflies

I'm so happy the Butterfly Thinlits are available again!!  Now I can show mine off and tempt you into wanting them too!  Who wouldn't want these beauties?

Today I'm sharing something bright and sunny.  The Designer Series Paper "Park Lane" is perfect for this with the beautiful flowers pattern.

Recipe:

Daffodil Delight cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
Smoky Slate - 5 1/4" x 4"
Daffodil Delight - 5" x 3 7/8"
DSP - 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"

You might notice on the Thinking of You card that my lace ribbon is hidden.  That's what I get for not placing everything on the card BEFORE attaching!  Oops!  Oh well... trial and error!

Inside I added a piece of Whisper White and a strip of matching DSP from the front of the card.  I raised it up just a tad from the bottom of the Whisper White.
