Class of 2016

Graduation time will soon be upon us, so today I have two cards for a couple of gals that will be graduating in May.  The school colors are Red, White and Black, so that was pretty simple to put together.

Here is card number one for my Boss' Granddaughter.  I can't believe she's going to soon be graduating and heading off to university.  It seems like she was just born!

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick Cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Real Red - 5 1/4" x 3"
Neutrals Color Collection (polka dots) - 5" x 2 3/4"

Large Numbers Framelits - Whisper White Thick Cardstock
1" Square Punch - for hat
Balloon Framelits - for tassel
Gold Foil Sheets (tassel)
Big News Stamp Set (congratulations) stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black

Inside Sentiment:  You're So Lovely stamped with Real Red

When I cut out the 2016 for the first card, I did my best to place them perfectly so I could use the cut out for a second card.

Real Red Base - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4
Whisper White Thick - 5" x 3 1/4"
Stamps - You're So Lovely (banner and congrats)

Inside sentiment - B.Y.O.P.

Thank you for looking in today!  Have a Blessed Sunday!    ~ Donna

Put Your Party Pants On

Time to make some more Birthday Cards for #imbringingbirthdaysback!

Perfect party paper is "It's My Party" Designer Series Paper Stack (140552) from the Occasions Catalog on page 5.

Recipe:

  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock - 11" x 4 1/4" scored and folded at 5 1/2"
  • It's My Party DSP - 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Whisper White Cardstock (strip) 4" x 1 1/2"
  • Whisper White Cardstock (sentiment) 2 3/4" x 2 1/2"
  • Melon Mambo (or Crushed Curry) 3" x 2 3/4"
  • Stamps:  Big News (wood mount - 134015 / clear mount - 134018) / Party Pants (FREE with Sale-a-bration)
  • Mint Macaron / Crushed Curry (balloons)
  • Balloon Bouquet Punch (140810 - photopolymer)
  • Ink - Memento Black (132708)

When I decided to turn the card vertically instead of horizontally, I found that the "it's your birthday" sentiment I had pre-made wouldn't fit, so I put them inside instead and used "Party Pants" on the outside with a longer strip instead.  I honestly just used scraps, so I don't have any measurements for you on those.  I knew I wanted it bigger than the small square of the little stamp, so I picked up some scraps and put them together!

Ta Da!

I made one with a banner cut at the end and the other with solid ends.

Spring and Christmas Together

I just can't leave the Balloon Builders (Spring Catalog) stamps alone!  When I spotted this mouse on Susan Itell's blog, I just had to make it.  I changed up a few things and made it a birthday card.

Although the front sentiment comes from "Oh, What Fun" in the (Christmas Catalog), it is a perfect sentiment to work into a birthday card!  This set WILL be retiring January 4th when the Christmas catalog ends, so if you don't have it, grab it now!

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick Cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Basic Gray - 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White - 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Strips - 3/4" x 3 7/8" (and shorter for top)
Ink:  Real Red, Smoky Slate
Ribbon: 1/8" Striped Ribbon
Stamps:  Oh What Fun, Balloon Builders

Inside Sentiment:  Big News

Thank you for looking in today!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends.  We enjoyed Christmas Eve at the home of my oldest son, Billy and his roommate Bobby.  My youngest, Robert, was supposed to be there too but wasn't feeling well, so he came to my house instead for breakfast.

My Son and I

My Son, Me and Bobby (who has been like a son for years!)

It was different not doing our usual tradition, but also fun to have someone else cook.  Billy made a wonderful meal and I brought pecan bars for dessert.

This is Milo (although that name hasn't been set in stone yet).  She came up to Bobby's house one day last week and just made herself at home.  She's a beautiful pit-mix with brindle tones.  But look how she sits.  Crazy dog looks like her hips are dislocated!  I'm not crazy about pit's but she's just as sweet as can be.  She loves leaning against your feet or legs and being petted.  I think she's adopted her new family!

My youngest son, Robert and I.  Pay no attention to my horrible picture... it was pre-makeup!

Big News Birthday Rounds It Out

Here is the last in my series of cards for the boxed set of cards I made for a friend.

These cards are made using Big News (w-134015 / c-134018).  This is a very simple card so it's easy to mail - only some Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the sentiment.  The DSP is from Typeset (133704).  Nice clean design so I could stamp the candle on the front.

Inside it says "enjoy the fuss" - also from Big News.

Here's a quick refresher of the other cards that are also in the boxed set.  They can be seen better by clicking on the picture - it should open in another window.

To see each card - click the links here:  Joyful Medicine, Hearts and Sentiments, Lovely as a Tree Sympathy, and apparently I didn't post the one with the flowers, so I'll catch up and do that one tomorrow!  Sorry about that!

The boxes are ones I received  from a friend that used to hold a fancy pen and two keyrings (from a local fancy car dealership).  These boxes are strong and sturdy and easily hold 14 cards with envelopes.  I covered the dealership logo ... er, I mean, the lid of the box, (hee hee) with Back to Black DSP (133700).  I tied the box shut with a loose knot so the whole ribbon can slip off without having to untie it.

It's Your Birthday!

Big News!  I've waited to get this set and now I'm glad I did... I was able to pick it up during our Stamp, Stock and Save sale!  Besides sale price, I got my discount too, wooo hooo!!!

This was a fast and simple card to make and I have to say I'm happy with how it came out.  Sometimes the ones that aren't planned but just happen are the best.

I love the giant 'it's your birthday!' stamp, big and bold, no way to miss the type of card this one is supposed to be!

Thank you for looking in today.  Please continue prayers for my friend Danita.

God Bless!
