Thank You from the Flowering Desert

Being from Arizona, I was so thrilled when I saw this stamp set and now I'm so sad that it isn't carrying over into the next catalog.  It will probably be one that will stay in my collection, simply because it just screams Arizona Desert!

If you want to get your hands on the Flowering Desert, be sure to order it before too long.  Stampin' Up! will continue to make stamps through May 24th (I believe), but I wouldn't wait that long if I were you.

Casing the Occasions

Today's card is a bit of a CASE (Copy And Share Everything) from the Occasions Catalog on page 31.  I changed up the stamp set to Bella and Friends.

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick cardstock - 4 1/4" x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2"
Gingham Gala - 4" x 5 1/4"
Whisper White - 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" Rectangle Stitched Framelit
Daffodil Delight - smallest Rectangle Stitched Framelit
Whisper White with Sizzix Adhesive Sheets - die cut with Springtime Impressions Thinlits

I colored Bella with the Light and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends.  To stamp the "grass" behind Bella, I stamped Bella a 2nd time on a square post-it note and then carefully cut around the bottom of Bella (feet, tail, etc) and then placed the post it over the Stamped Bella on the rectangle.  In other words, I "masked" over Bella so I could stamp the grass and it would stamp in between her feet and tail.

Stamps - Bella and Friends, Waterfront (grass)
Ink - Memento Black and Granny Apple Green

If you look very closely at the Springtime Impressions, you might notice something.  When I placed the adhesive on the paper, I put the die on the wrong side (the adhesive side) and I should have put it on the paper side.  SO, when I went to pull off the backing, I found it was on the wrong side.  Ugh!  I need to work with that stuff more often to get this right!  LOL

And... of course, I did two of them, both the same way, wrong!

Thank you for looking in today!  Have a great weekend.  I'm so happy it's Friday!

Masculine Birthday with Waterfront

Today I am CASEing Angie Leach for two reasons... one, I needed some masculine cards and these showed up in my inbox on Tuesday and two, I got less than 2 hours of sleep Monday night - just one of those sleepless nights - and I napped after work and ran out of time to think of my own!

Thanks Angie!

Waterfront is one of my favorite go to stamps for something quick and beautiful.

Recipe:
Night of Navy - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Very Vanilla - 4" x 5 1/4" - embossed with Woodland embossing folder
Night of Navy - 2 5/8" x 3 3/8"
Very Vanilla - 2 1/2" x 3 1/4"

Start at the top and work your way down.  Ask me why I suggest that...

The sun is stamped with Daffodil Delight
The small mountain range with Early Espresso - though it looked awfully dark and almost black to me for some reason.
The land is stamped with Old Olive
The lake with Balmy Blue
The trees with Mossy Meadow

Stamps:  Waterfront and Let the Good Times Roll

The large embossed Very Vanilla is wrapped with Copper Trim.

Thank you for looking in today!  I'm off to get some sleep!

Flowering Desert Says Hi There!

If you live in Arizona, you simply must have this stamp set: Flowering Desert.  It is just too cute not to have and use to send to all your friends.

I cased this from Sharon Armstrong.  When I spotted this while searching for ideas, I fell in love with these cute little Prickly Pear Cactus waving hello!  Well, that's what they looked like to me and I thought I simply had to CASE (copy and share everything) it.  I didn't look to see what colors she used, but I used Real Red for the cardstock and Lovely Lipstick for the ink.  Apparently I've used all my Lovely Lipstick cardstock - it's on my next order!

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick Cardstock - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Real Red - 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White - 5" x 3 3/4"
Real Red - 1 3/4" x 1" (for sentiment mat)
Whisper White - 1 1/2" x 3/4" (for sentiment)

Stamps:  Flowering Desert, Waterfront
Ink:  Lovely Lipstick, Tranquil Tide, Soft Suede

When stamping the mountains and the desert floor, ink up your stamp with Soft Suede and stamp full strength and then keep stamping with the remainder of the ink on the stamp.

Don't you just want to wave back at these cute little guys?  Hi Cacti!

Thank you for looking in today.  We'll be taking Nike in to get his stitches out and then I'm off for some crafting fun with Sue and Danita.  Danita is my dear sweet friend from Southern Arizona who is in town for Sue's workshop on Saturday, but today will be a day for just the three of us to stamp, laugh, create and have a fun time!
