Easter Poppers with a Real "Pop"

You've probably seen these fun poppers all over the place, I know I have and I've finally taken the time to make some.  They really are easy to make.  You'll notice two of them in the picture below looks like I forgot to remove something, but that's the POP part!  Click HERE to see where to purchase them.

 Let's Begin:

Start with any Designer Series Paper 6" x 4 1/2" then with the 4 1/2" side at the top of your Simply Scored, score at 1", 2", 3" and 4".

Use your bone folder and make nice crisp folds on each of the score lines.

The key to making this work is to punch, flip, punch.  Go to the next fold and punch, flip and punch.  The punching is done with the Envelope Punch Board.  Item #133774 on page 204 of the current Annual Catalog.

In the picture below you see the first punch is made by lining up the LEFT EDGE with the ONE INCH mark and punch.  (Ignore the vertical score lines you see below, they should all be horizontal!)

Flip the paper over, shown below, line up with the one inch mark again and punch.

Do this on each of the score lines and on the end of the one inch edge that has no fold.  You'll see why when you fold it together to seal.

Using Tear & Tape, place a strip on the open end where you just put the last punches.

Remove the backing and then folding the 1/2" edge in, line it up with the adhesive end.

Gently squeeze in the end and tie it up with matching ribbon.

Fill with your favorite treat and tie up the other end.  It holds five Hershey's Milk Chocolate Eggs perfectly.

Now for the poppers.  Simply slide them in to the other end.  You can also put them in first and then add the candy.  I left my ends long on the poppers so people could grab them easily, but I think they look better trimmed.

This is what teh Poppers look like.  Actually, I keep calling them Poppers, but they are really called Crackers.

Here's a shoebox full of poppers for friends at work.  There were a lot of people missing at the office today, so I didn't need too many.  It was fun to see the surprise on their face!

Thank you for looking in today.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Think how much fun these will be for other seasons as well.  Especially the 4th of July!  I can hardly wait!  Well, yes, I can, it's too hot in July in Arizona!

Have a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Easter.

Daisies are Blooming

At least on this card they are and depending on where you live, they could be blooming there too!  Shirley did a beautiful job with this card.  I'm anxious to start using these stamps again now that spring is here.

Around Phoenix African Daisies are popping open everywhere and they are all so beautiful!  These things grow up out of nothing, it's just amazing, our desert around here is full of them and they just keep coming back, year after year!  So pretty!

Thank you for looking in today.  Happy Friday!  Watch out tomorrow for a project I've been working on.  Complete with details!

Today I'm sharing a couple of swaps from our team meeting.

This first card was done by Chris B. and was the WINNING swap.  We all vote on our favorite each month.

The bike basket and the frame under the woven basket are both made with Silver Foil, but you can't really see that in the picture, which is a shame!  It looks so much better in real life.

The bundle for this card was made with the Bike Ride Bundle (145314) on page 20 of the Annual Catalog.  This was on my wish list, but it never made it into my basket!  Hopefully it will carry over, because it really is cute!  I'm not aware of where the sentiment comes from though.

This second card was made by Lorri - our fearless leader!  The bundle for this one is the Grown With Love Bundle (wood - 145337 or clear mount - 145338) on page 22 of the Annual Catalog.  The sentiment "enjoy today" is from Eastern Beauty (143675) on page 19 of the Annual Catalog.

Thank you for looking in today!

A Belated St. Patrick's Birthday

I used to be so good at remembering birthdays, as a matter of fact, I can still spout off birthdays of friends from grade school, but keeping up with new dates and people just escapes me.  Everything is written down, but that means remembering to LOOK in the birthday book!  LOL

So this card is for Chris R. from Iowa.  If read my comments area, you'll know that Chris R. from Iowa is very good at remembering and taking time to comment on my blog posts.  Thank you Chris!  Chris' birthday was, surprise, surprise, St. Patrick's Day.  Could you tell?

Recipe:
Garden Green - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Whisper White - 5 1/4" x 4"
Coffee Break Designer Series Paper - Hearts for Shamrock leaves.  I used a retired punch, but the Sweet and Sassy Framelits work perfectly as well.  I just wanted to punch instead.
I free handed the stem.

Inside, I made use of the big "Sorry" from Sorry for Everything.  So nice to use it for something other than a Pet Sympathy!

How do you keep track and remember birthdays?  I'm always up for suggestions.

Thank you for looking in today!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Lemon Cart

I spotted the idea for today's card on Brian King's blog and knew I had to make it!  Thank you Brian!  I had a couple of little changes, but the credit goes to Brian for sure!

When I purchased the Let the Good Times Roll Bundle, I really liked the cute drink cart, then when I spotted it being used by Brian, I knew just what needed to be done.

Recipe:
Daffodil Delight - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Basic Black - 5 1/4" x 4"
Daffodil Delight 5 1/8" x 3 7/8" - stamped with Daffodil Delight Lemon Slices
Flirty Flamingo - 4" x 3" (soon to retire, so grab it before it's gone!)
Basic Black - 3 5/8" x 2 5/8"
Whisper White 3 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Stamps:
Let the Good Times Roll
Lemon Zest

Ink:
Memento Black
Daffodil Delight
Soft Suede
Flirty Flamingo

Start by stamping the sentiment and cart on the Whisper White piece.  I used Memento Black and Soft Suede.

Then stamp the cart again in Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo on a scrap of Whisper White.  You only need to stamp the parts you need in those colors since you will be fussy cutting them.

Clearly, I needed to add more ink to Flirty Flamingo.  It's that time of year, when I like to re-ink my pads, make them all new again for the new catalog year.

After you fussy cut the awning and lemonade glasses, the best way to put them onto the cart is to put the adhesive onto where you will be placing the cut piece.  See below for placing the heart.  The heart is punched from the Cookie Cutter Builder punch.

First add the glue - just a tiny dot (above) and then add the heart (below).

A little tip I wanted to share again.  I've shared before, but it's a good one to remember.  If you decide to add something more to the inside of the card, but you've already adhered it to the base, simply use some post it notes to cover the base and stamp away.

Perfect!

Thank you for looking in today.  It's finally Friday!!!
