A Crafty Weekend - updated

Saturday was a fun day of crafting with Diana Gibbs and Rhonda Morgan and 120 or so friends!

Those two really put a lot of thought and work into the projects.  So many in fact, I didn't get them all done!  But I loved working on them with my friends and will finish them up over the next few days.

Until then, let me share with you one that we did finish.

Book O' Cards:

This may look like a card, but it is actually the cover of a book that holds four cute cards.  Everything we made came from the Botanical Gardens products (pages 26 and 27 from the Occasions Catalog).

Before we began making any of our projects we had lots and lots and lots of flowers and leaves to die cut, but we worked as a team at our table and got them done fairly quickly.  Then all we had to do was put it together.

Inside a pocket that holds four of the cards we made, plus envelopes.

Wouldn't these be a nice gift to give or receive?  I sure think so!  

If you would like measurements, just ask.  I didn't measure any of them yet for future cards, but they are all pretty easy to do and I can certainly take the measurements and share them with you if you would like them.

She has very easy to follow directions and pictures to go with. Her book was made from 2008 and is Christmas themed, but of course you can use any paper you want.

The measurements for the DSP and Cardstock on the front is:
Cardstock - 5 3/4" x 4 1/2" outside ; 4 1/2" x 2 1/4" inside
DSP - 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" outside ; 4 1/4" x 2" inside.

I will take measurements on the cards Tuesday.  I left them at my office to show off and didn't bring them home tonight.

Artisan Embellishment Projects

Yesterday, a group of friends and I participated in Diana Gibbs' Spring Fling.  We all had a good time and enjoyed crafting together.  It is really nice to be on the crafting side instead of the designing side!  Next week I get craft again with my awesome team at Lorri Heiling's Spring Extravaganza. 

In the first two cards here, we used the Artisan Embellishment Kit from the Occasions Catalog (pg. 27, item 137909).  For this card we used the adorable rose stencil as is.  The other side is white, but I chose to use the Sahara Sand side.  I thought it was beautiful with the pink background.  We added half of a doily and the beautiful roses from the kit on the side.

 

For the 2nd card, we used the stencil as a stencil and with a Sponge Dauber we dabbed on the Rose Coral Chalk Ink.  I really like the way the chalk in looks.  It has a nice soft look to it.  I may have to try the other two colors (Aquamarine and Yellow Citrus) as well, although, I have to say, my preference is the Rose Coral.

Well, this girl has had a very long day (fyi - I write this the night before and generally post at midnight, so technically, it's still Saturday!).  On top of stamping and crafting all day (so stressful... LOL) after I returned home we had a neighborhood Chili Cookoff and Movie Night at the neighbor's house on the street behind us.  It was fun, but I'm whooped!

Quick and Easy Watercolor Wonder Designer Card

Here is another beautiful card from the Spring Fling I attended.  This one is very simple cards and so quick to put together with a nice WOW factor

This card was one of my favorites from the event.  We used the Watercolor Wonder Designer Note Cards for this.  There are five designs in the pack of 20 cards.  One of the designs had the beautiful flowers and another had just the dots with some splashes of color in the dots.  We took the 2 1/2" Circle Punch and punches out the flowers from the other card front - the back still has the dots so can be used on another card design.

The starburst in Pool Party was cut using the Starburst Framelits Dies.  These can be purchased separately or as a bundle with Starburst Sayings.

The ribbon is so easy to attach with our super strong Sticky Strip.  Simply place the Sticky Strip down and then gently lay the Pool Party 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon and bunch it up a little as you go.  Perfect!

Fabulous!

Here are a couple more cards we made at Spring Fling 2014 last Sunday.  So easy to put together using the Retro Fresh Designer Journaling Tags and a few pieces of DSP and Card Stock.

I really like this one and the way the ribbon can be added so easily to the Journaling Tag to dress it up a bit.

Retro Fresh Journaling Tags

On Sunday a large group of stamping women gathered together for Spring Fling in Gilbert, AZ.  Below are a couple of cards we made using the Designer Retro Fresh Journaling Tags.  These tags make putting together great cards quick and simple!  Add card stock for a base, a little DSP, ribbon and these tags and look how nice it all comes together!

Here are what was left of the tags after we assembled several cards.  Some have some lines for, oh hey, journaling - others are pre-printed and ready for a little bling or dressing up with ribbon.  I'll show more tomorrow.

Working Best Under Pressure

Do you work best under pressure or when you have plenty of time to plan ahead and produce?  Well, tonight (Saturday Night) I think I worked best under pressure!

Tomorrow (Sunday), which is already today when you read this, some of my stamping friends and I are going to Diana and Rhonda's Spring Fling and we've all be trying to make badges, but most of us never got around to doing it.  So Saturday, when I came home from visiting my family up in central Arizona, I put my brain in gear and came up with these.  

You know, it's hard to produce when so many of your supplies are packed and ready for a workshop or stamping event.  But I have to say, I think these came out pretty good.  

The idea is for each person to make a name badge to enter in the contest.  While ours are not unique, they will be pretty.  Besides, you should SEE some of the name badges those women at Spring Fling come up with!  They are amazingly creative.

So for today, here are the name badges for our stamping group.  Going to be having a great time!

Dress Framelit from Spring Fling

Get ready for more of these, just as soon as the Brown Truck delivers my next package!  This adorable card was made at Spring Fling a couple of weeks ago and was one of my favorite things there.  I just love the Dress Up Framelits Dies and the Pop 'n Cuts Dies to go with it.  I really didn't think I'd be so crazy about it, but the more I see the more I love it!

Isn't this just the cutest little dress?  Who do you think of when you see this polka-dot dress and apron?  I know who or what I think of, "I Love Lucy!"  It just seems like something you'd expect her to wear.  Even though the shows were mostly black and white, I can totally see a cute orange polka dot dress on her!
