New Thinlits Card Dies - August 1st

I can hardly wait to get my hands on these!  I've attempted making them from tutorials and they come out "ok", but with this, they will be perfect!!!

They've been called flip cards, flip flop cards, swing cards, and more-but they have always been a bit tricky to create. Not anymore! Our amazing new Thinlits Card Dies cut and score to create a card that flips in just one step.

There are some products you just have to see in action before you realize how much you need them, right?

These new card dies come with extra die pieces that have versatile designs, so you can use them on other projects, not just flip cards. (The Circle Card Thinlits Die comes with 10 total pieces; the Label Card Thinlits Die comes with nine total pieces.)

With the number of dies you're getting, plus the die that creates the card itself, the price is a great value-especially to create an interactive card!
  • Mass production of these impressive "flip" cards would be quick and easy. They would make great announcements, invitations, or Christmas cards.
  • These Thinlits Card Dies will be available at least through the 2013-2014 catalog year, so you can feel confident investing in them.
  • The main shape in the cards (circle and label) can work with a lot of our stamp images so you can create tons of different kinds of cards using many different stamp sets. Here are just a few suggestions to get you started:
Label Card Thinlits Die (item 133479):
  • Happy Day Stamp Set (item 130294 W item 130297 C)
Circle Card Thinlits Die (item 133480):
  • Worth the Wait Stamp (item 131094 W)
  • Five-Way Flower Stamp (item 131088 W)
Both card dies pair well with:
  • Oh, Hello Stamp Set (item 131931 W item 130733 C)
  • Yippee-Skippee! Stamp Set (item 131341 W item 131344 C)
  • Really Good Greetings Stamp Set (item 130330 W item 130333 C)
  • Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set (item 130324 W item 130327 C)
  • These dies also work well with our new magnetic platform (item 130658) so you can place the dies exactly where you want them!

They've been called flip cards, flip flop cards, swing cards, and more-but they have always been a bit tricky to create. Not anymore! Our amazing new Thinlits Card Dies cut and score to create a card that flips in just one step.

Chalk Talk - Grateful There's You

Seems I just can't get enough of the new In Colors.  I'm really loving the Crisp Cantaloupe and Baked Brown Sugar together.  I wish you could see how beautiful the Crisp Cantaloupe ink stamps.  It is just so pretty!

Here's today's recipe:

  • Whisper White 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • Crisp Cantaloupe from the 2013-2015 In Colors Designer Series Paper Stack (130136) - 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Baked Brown Sugar - 4" x 2 1/2"
  • Whisper White 3 3/4" x 2 1/4"
  • Stamp images from Chalk Talk (w-130631 / c-130634) using Crisp Cantaloupe ink and Baked Brown Sugar ink.
  • Punch the oval with the Extra-Large Oval Punch (119859)
  • Die cut with the Chalk Talk framelits (129983) or cut out with Paper Snips (103579) the Cantaloupe image.
  • Attach the tag to the Whisper White paper (you could also just stamp the image directly onto the Whisper White).
  • Attach a piece of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim over the tag and around to the back.
  • Attach the Oval with Stampin' Dimensionals over the Tag (104430).
  • Attach the Baked Brown Sugar using Stampin' Dimensionals as well.

Sweets for the Sweet

A very dear friend of mine and her oldest daughter have opened a great little bakery shop in Mesa, Arizona called Floured Aprons Bakery.  If you follow my blog, you'll know that they provided the cookies for last weekend's workshop and Stampin' Up! Birthday Celebration.

Most of their baking has been out of her home but they've just moved into this cute little storefront.  When we found out the the store was going to be open Saturday, we had to go check it out.  The bonus was I actually got to see my friend Vicki.  I expected her daughter, Jessica, to be there and when Vicki came out of the kitchen, it was the greatest surprise ever!

The decor is a beautiful Red and White so when I got home, I decided to make some little gift cards with our awesome red and white dotted DSP.  I thought she might like to have them available in the store for when people purchase goodies as a gift.  Here's a few of them.  I should probably see if she wants them before I make too many! LOL

The cards are 3" x 3" and are just perfect for a little note to go along as a special addition to their sweet bakery items.

Stamps Well With Others Recipe:

Card Stock:  Whisper White cut 6" x 3" and scored at 3" and 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" inset.
DSP:  Brights Color Collection Designer Paper Series Paper Stacks (130134)
Stamps:  Create a Cupcake (w-121915 / c-121982), Sweets for the Sweet (w-128742 / c-122512)
Ink:  Real Red, Baked Brown Sugar, So Saffron,
Tools:  Cupcake Builder Punch (121807), Paper Crimper
Extras:  Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon 119251, Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

Best of Shelli - Birthday

I saw the basic concept for this on Too Cool Stamping by Angie Leach.  I changed it up a bit with a different framelit set and a different birthday stamp.

Here's the details:

  • Begin with Whisper White - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".
  • Cut a piece of 2013 - 2015 In Color Designer Series Paper Stacks (130136) - 5 1/4" x 4", I used Crisp Cantaloupe.
  • Using the Fancy Fan embossing folder (127751) and emboss a piece of Strawberry Slush cut at 1 1/2" x 4".
  • Using Black StazOn ink pad, stamp the birthday packages from the "Best of Shelli" Collector stamp set (133488) multiple times on selected papers from the same DSP.
  • Cut the packages out with your Paper Snips (103579).
  • Stamp the packages one more time on a piece of Whisper White paper approximately 4 1/2" x 4" - size doesn't matter as you will be die cutting this out.  Just be sure it's big enough for the die you use.
  • Using the Labels Collection Framelits (125598) cut out the image you just stamped.  Keep the packages at the top of the framelit.
  • Piece together the packages that you cut out of the DSP.  You'll notice there's only 3 gifts on the stamp, so pick the middle one and add it to the bottom of the stack to make more gifts.
  • Stamp your greeting under the packages with Coastal Cabana.  I used Itty Bitty Banners (w-132022 / c-126257).
  • Sponge the edge with Coastal Cabana.
  • Attach the Strawberry Slush to the Crisp Cantaloupe.
  • Attach a piece of Strawberry Slush 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim to the Whisper White Die Cut piece.
  • Pop up the Die Cut piece with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
Very Pretty!!  Try mixing it up with other colors and papers from the In Color Collection.  You'll have  great variety of cards to have on hand for birthdays and special occasions.

Happy Friday!

Masking Tape Stamping Technique

Have you seen the cool new way to ink up your cards?  I saw this the other day and thought what a unique way to stamp.  No two would ever be exactly the same.

It's a very easy technique and gives a bright new look.

This card is going into my workshop deliveries, so if you were at this past weekend's workshop, please look surprised when you open your new toys and find your thank you card there.  LOL

For this technique, you will want to use photo paper or a glossy paper if you have any from before it was discontinued.  I have loads of 4 x 6 photo paper that comes with my printer ink each time I buy the refill pack.

  • First, pick your colors.  I used three since this is just a little 3 x 3 card and wouldn't hold too much more.
  • Tear off some masking tape that is longer than the size of the card you are making.  Tear it in half, longways, so it's not too wide.  For a full sized card, you could keep the full width of the tape.
  • Carefully lay your tape across your ink pad, gently rubbing just a bit.
  • Gently attach the tape to your card.  Don't press down too hard or it won't come back up easily.  Do all three colors and then gently pull the first one off, then the 2nd and 3rd in the order you put them down.
  • Since it's on photo paper, it will dry very quickly.
  • Stamp your sentiment of image over the top and attach to your card.  Easy Peasy!

Giggle Greetings - Who's Got the Cheese?

Have you checked out the fun new stamp set Giggle Greetings yet?  I just love fun stamps and this one is one of my favorites in this year's Annual Catalog.  What better way to step this particular stamp up than to put a cute piece of swiss cheese behind it.

Here's the scoop - super easy to do.

  • Begin with a piece of Strawberry Slush 8 1/2" x 5 1/2 and score it at 4 1/4"
  • Cut a piece of So Saffron card stock at 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Cut another piece of So Saffron at 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Punch random holes in the smaller piece of So Saffron using 1/2" Circle (119869), 3/4" Circle (119873) and 1" Circle (119868) Punches.
  • Using a Sponge Dauber (102892) gently sponge So Saffron ink around the edges of the paper and around all the circles you punched.
  • Stamp the "cheese" stamp with StazOn onto Watercolor Paper (122959).
  • Using the Window Frames Collection Framelits (129021) die cut the water color paper and then using the next size Window Frame, die cut your Designer Series Paper - Birthday Basics (130145).
  • Color your image with ink from the lid of your stamp pads and using the Aqua Painter (103954).
  • Decorate the edge of the Watercolor Paper with the Festive Paper Piercing Pack (127857) and your Paper Piercing Tool (126189).  Don't forget to use the Stampin' Pierce Mat (126199) before you poke holes in your table!  Yikes!
  • Pop up the "cheese" card stock with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).  Also Pop up the Watercolor paper with Dimensionals as well.
I think I'm going to make some more of these to have on hand for birthdays.  It's just too cute not to have some spares.  It's definitely going to be a card for our "Mouse Hunters" at the office.  Seems we have some furry little critters from time to time and we've designated the job of catching them to a couple of the guys at work.  Lucky them.

Celebrating 25 Years of Stampin' Up!

Birthday Party's are so much fun! Saturday was the last day of the Stampin' Up! 2013 Convention and even though I wasn't able to attend, we did manage to celebrate.

We celebrated 25 Years of Stampin' Up! with some wonderful cookies made by Floured Aprons Bakery.  My very dear friend Vicki (from too many years ago to even mention) and her daughter Jessica, have started this marvelous bakery.  They use family recipes that have been around forever and some of the great flavors I remember growing up when Vicki's Mom was cooking!  Yum!

While most of the girls were working on our projects from today, Brittney was busy working on some adorable invitations to a birthday party for a friend's child.  The stamps are all retired stamps but they turned out so cute, I wanted to share.  After the party, we both worked on finishing them up and hey Danita, we fussy cut the trains!  Aren't you proud - thirty of the little buggers.  LOL

After that was done, Brittney took time to do today's projects but she stepped it up a bit and mixed and matched the colors.  There were three color sets to choose from, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point.  Here she mixed Melon Mambo with Bermuda Bay and added an extra small butterfly to the middle. I think they cam out fabulous!

We never received any rain here and after I turned off the computer last night for posting Saturday's post, there wasn't any more lightning or thunder.  It was very disappointing.  We did have a nice steady rain between 10 p.m. and midnight or so.

Well, that's all for today.  Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Monday!

~ Donna

Saturday, July 20, 2013

This is going to be a very fast post - there's a storm with actual rain, thunder and lightning very near.  Since I typically post these the night before for a 6 a.m. posting, I need to get this done before we lose power.  The rain is sure welcomed though, we need it!

This will be the card for tomorrow's workshop.  I've posted the same pattern and design HERE where you can look for details.

Sorry to post and run, but I can't take the chance of losing my computer!

Happy Saturday!

Six Sided Sampler - Thank You

I spotted this great card by Lianne Carper and just had to take a shot at it.  I really like how it turned out.  I don't think I would have ever thought of Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray or the new Smoky Slate.

What do you think?  Nice combination, don't you agree?

  • Begin with a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 4" x 3 3/4".  This is what you will attach your hexagons to.
  • Stamp several of the designs from the Six-Sided Sampler (w-130953 / c-130956) using Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate ink.
  • Punch out the hexagons with the Hexagon Punch (130919) and use your adhesive of choice to adhere them to the 4" x 3 3/4" Whisper White card stock.  Trim off excess with your paper snips.
  • Cut a 4" x 2" piece of Whisper White.  Attach it to top edge of the now assembled hexagon paper so that the total length is 5 1/4".
  • Attach Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon (125583) around the seam where the two pieces are put together.  Tie a pretty bow - or a knot if you don't like bows... (Linda).
  • Stamp your sentiment from Perfectly Penned (w-128703 / c-122892) using Basic Gray ink.
  • Attach to card base of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4".
Stamps Well With Others Supply List:

Stamps:  Six-Sided Sampler (w-130953 / c-130956), Perfectly Penned (w-128703 / c-122892)
Paper:  Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate
Extras:  Hexagon Punch (130919), Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon (125583), Snail Adhesive (104332)

I Am Me - So Smile!

One of the new Designer Series Papers is called "I Am Me".  I wasn't totally sure what I would do with it, but I really liked the back side of several of the sheets.  That's the great part about DSP, if you don't like one side, there's always something on the other side you will like - or even LOVE!

So I was looking at this paper with the cute little camera's on it and thought it would be cute to cut out some of the camera's and make it something very cute.

This is another quick card, even with cutting out the little camera's.

  • Start with a base of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • Then cut a piece of Whisper White at 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Then a piece of "I Am Me" DSP (130138) at 5" x 3 3/4"
  • I cut another piece of Whisper White 4" x 2 1/2" and then snipped off one corner.  Take that corner that you snipped off and line it up on the backside of the other corner and trace a line to know how much to cut off to make the tag even.
  • Punch a Ticket using the Ticket Duo Builder Punch (126883), fold it in half and punch a circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (118309).  Attach it to the top of the tag.
  • I then punched a smaller hole in the middle using a small hole punch.
  • Stamp the word "Smile" from Fabulous Phrases (w-128577 / c-120501).  Cut a piece of card stock to go over the word for a quick mask.
  • Use your Real Red and So Saffron stamp pads and re-inkers to ink up an Aqua Painter (103954).  Then carefully tap the brush over the tag to create the perfect splatter.
  • Cut a some camera's from the DSP and attach them with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
You can order all items shown above on My Stampin' Up Website.  If I can help you with your order, please contact me.

Happy Hump Day!

Folded Frame Cards

This is a fast card, that only looks difficult.  I saw this on France Martin's page (aka Stamp and Scrap with Frenchie) and fell in love with it.  It is really very simple to do.

Take a piece of your favorite DSP - I'm using Bermuda Bay from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack (130134) and cut it to 4" x 4".

Using your Simply Scored (122334) and the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate (125586) score all four sides at 2" and 3" diagonally.  Be sure to hold the paper firmly into the corner as your score.  Keep in mind too, that the DSP is thinner than card stock, so you don't have to press very hard with your scoring tool.

Here is how it will look when you have all for sides (corners) scored.

Fold in towards the center on the 2" score and then fold back on the 3" score.  It will look like this.  Repeat on all four corners.

Here is the four corners all folded in.  Now you're ready to attach to your card and embellish as desired.

You can find all you need to make this adorable card on my Stampin' Up! website here.

Natural Composition DSP with Secret Garden

Have you tried the Natural Composition paper yet?  It took me a while to see what it was all about and now that I see how beautiful it is, I plan to be using it more.

Here's a beautiful card (with a few of my own changes) that I saw on Beth's Paper Cuts.  Since I don't have all the awesome 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim yet, I had to change the color to Strawberry Slush and I used Secret Garden Stamps and Framelits. I wish you could see the Dazzling Diamonds a bit better, it just didn't photograph very well.

Here's the details:

  • Begin with Soft Suede (I think Baked Brown Sugar would look great too) - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • Cut a piece of Natural Composition DSP (126917)  5" x 3".  This DSP has several patterns to it, so be sure to pick the one with the flowers.
  • Punch a circle with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch (120906)
  • Using Sticky Strip (104294) attach a piece to the long side of the DSP and then attach a 5" piece of 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim in Strawberry Slush (130023)
  • Cut a 2 7/8" square of Whisper White (to go behind the circle you punched) and pop it up (or back) with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430) from the DSP
  • Stamp your flower of choice from Secret Garden (w-131940 / c-129144) with Strawberry Slush Ink onto Strawberry Slush card stock.
  • Die cut the flowers using Secret Garden Framelits (129372)
  • Punch leaves from the Bird Builder Punch (117191) from Pear Pizzazz card stock
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the DSP from the base card.
  • Stamp sentiment using Itty Bitty Banners (w-132022 / c-126257) and Die Cut with Bitty Banners Framelits (129267)
  • Use Dazzling Diamonds to decorate the flowers - be sure to let it dry completely!

Secret Garden Bright and Fresh

Here's another pretty card using Secret Garden stamps and framelits with the Gingham Garden DSP.  I love the bright colors that go with this card.  The sentiments come from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set.

Here's how it all comes together:

  • Begin with a base of Daffodil Delight - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4".
  • The second layer begins with Whisper White - 5 1/4" x 4".
  • Cut the larger piece of Gingham Garden DSP (129310) - 4" x 1 3/4" and the smaller piece - 4" x 3/4"
  • Attach both to the Whisper White and run through the Big Shot (113439) using Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335).
  • Attach to the Daffodil Delight card base.
  • Stamp the solid flowers from Secret Garden Stamps (w-131940 / c-129144) using Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo.
  • Die cut the flowers using the Big Shot and Secret Garden framelits (129372).
  • Pop up flowers with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
  • Punch leaves with the Bird Builder Punch (117191) or use the leaves stamp from Secret Garden and the matching framelits.
  • Stamp sentiment on Whisper White
  • Punch sentiment with the Decorative Label Punch (120907). Punch an additional Decorative Label in Melon Mambo.
  • Cut the Melon Mambo in half and place it behind the sentiment, trimming off any excess that peeks out.
  • Add Large Pearl Basic Jewels (125577) to the center of the flowers.
  • Cut an additional Whisper White for stamping the inside sentiment - 5 1/4" x 4".
Well, that looks like a LOT of work, but really, it's very simple.

Thank you for looking in today.  Welcome to Friday and the weekend ahead!

Secret Gingham Garden

It occurred to me that I haven't played much with my Secret Garden stamp set or framelits yet, so out they came!  This can be done with so many of our colors but this is what I picked for this round.

This was fun to do.  Details below.

  • Begin with Pear Pizzazz - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • Daffodil Delight - 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Whisper White - 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Melon Mambo - 4 7/8" x 1 7/8"
  • Gingham Garden DSP - 4 3/4" x 1 3/4"
  • Stamp flower of choice from Secret Garden with Black StazOn onto Whisper White, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight.
  • Using Stampin' Write Markers highlight the flowers.
  • Using the Secret Garden Framelits (129372), die cut the flowers.
  • The leaves are from the Bird Builder Punch (117191).  The Secret Garden Stamps and Framelits has a leaf but I had extra from the Bird Builder to use up.
  • Pop up the flowers with Stampin Dimensionals (104430).
  • Add a little bling with Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246)
  • Stamp sentiment from Chalk Talk (w-130631 / c-130634)
  • Punch out sentiment with the Extra Large Oval (119859)
Have fun making this one.  Share what you make, I'd love to see your designs.

Thanks for looking in today.

One In A Million Birthday

My order arrived Tuesday with my Buy Three, Get One Free DSP packs and I just had to play with the Birthday Basics pack.  I just LOVE the candles paper.  So fun!!

This is a very fast and easy card.  My favorite!

Stamps Well With Others Recipe:

  • Begin with a piece of Very Vanilla - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • Layer with Gumball Green - 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Layer with DSP - 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Using the Ovals Collection Framelits (129381) die cut one oval in Gumball Green and one a size smaller in Very Vanilla
  • Sponge the edge of the Very Vanilla with Gumball Green and stamp your sentiment in the center.  Actually, it's much easier to stamp first and then die cut second.
  • I also wanted to add some color to the envelope so I cut a piece of DSP 5 3/4" x 2 1/4" and adhered it to the outside of the envelope and then trimmed around the edge with my paper snips.
Thank you for looking in today!  Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Stamp a Stack - July

I normally post these the night before but headed to bed early with a sore throat and fever.  :(  So, I'm a little late posting today post.

This will be our Stamp-a-Stack for July.  I don't recall where I got the idea, so if this is your basic design, please let me know so I can give credit.  I believe the original didn't have the color mat between the layers, I recall it being all Whisper White.  Thinking it needed a bit more color, I chose to pop it out with some Real Red.  The packets for SAS will have a variety of colors that match the circles that are punched.

Stamps Well With Others Recipe:

  • Begin with Whisper White base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
  • Real Red - 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Whisper White - 5" x 3 3/4"
  • DSP:  Polka Dot Parade (126902).  Used here:  Rich Razzleberry, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Marina Mist
  • Card stock to match Polka Dot Parade for circle punching.
  • 1" Circle Punch (119868), 3/4" Circle Punch (119873)
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals (104430) to pop up some of the circles.
  • Add some Basic Jewels (129324) to add a little bling.
  • Add your sentiment of choice.
Thank you for looking in today - even if it is very late!

Remembering Your Birthday

Here's a great new set from the Annual Catalog called Remembering Your Birthday.  I saw the layout in Basic Black and Very Vanilla as a Sympathy card on Stampin' With Brian's blog, but changed up the colors and the sentiments to make it bright and cheery.

Inside:

Here's the details:

  • The base of the card is Island Indigo - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • The Very Vanilla is 5 1/4" x 4" (cut two - one for the inside as well, since the Island Indigo is too dark to stamp on.
  • Cut two pieces of DSP (Gingham Garden used here) 3" x 1 1/2"
  • Cut one piece of Very Vanilla also to 3" x 1 1/2" for the sentiment
  • Cut two pieces of Island Indigo to 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" to go behind the DSP
  • Cut one piece of Island Indigo to 3 1/8" x 1 5/8" to go behind the sentiment.
The border around the sentiment is smaller to draw your attention to the sentiment - since it is a bit different, it's enough grab your eye.

Stamps Well With Others Recipe:
