Window Sheet Watercolor Transfer - Lovely as a Tree

I saw this technique on Thursday and just had to try it!  It took me a couple of tries with the color choices, but I think it came out pretty good.  Thanks to Angie Leach for the Watercolor Transfer technique!

  • The card starts with a base of Gumball Green cut at 11" x 4 1/4" and scored at 5 1/2" for a different fold from what I usually do.
  • The next layer is Chocolate Chip cut at 5" x 3 3/4",
  • Then a layer from Epic Day This and That DSP (130814) and
  • Stamped it with the Woodgrain background stamp (w-128763 / c-127808) using Early Espresso Ink.

  • The stamped image is on Watercolor Paper (122959) cut to 3 5/8" x 3 1/4" with a
  • Mat of Chocolate Chip cut to 3 3/4" x 3 3/8".

To make the Window Sheet Watercolor Transfer:

  • On a piece of Window Sheet (114323), use the brush trip end of Stampin' Write markers. I used Marina Mist and Old Olive.
  • Mist the Window Sheet with water using a Stampin' Spritzer (126185).  Spritz 2 - 3 times, holding the spritzer about 12 inches away.
  • Carefully turn the Window Sheet over and place it onto the Watercolor paper.  Press down to transfer the ink to the paper evenly, but leaving it a bit patchy.

After the background is dry, stamp the Lovely as a Tree image over the top of the Marina Mist and Old Olive with Chocolate Chip, you want it to be a bit light, not over inked or you won't be able to color the leaves over it.  I tried it with Early Espresso, but it was too dark.  Then I used Garden Green and Chocolate Chip to color the leaves and the trunk.

I placed a piece of 5/8" Crochet Trim (118481) across the bottom and then added a beautiful Antique Brad (117273).  The tree and mat were popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

Give this technique a try, I think you will like the results.

Thanks for looking in.

Tag a Bag Accessory Kit

Stampin' Up! has some really great new ways to quickly decorate treats, gifts or just about anything.  On page 158 and 159 of the Annual Catalog, you will see our new Tag a Bag Accessory Kit as well as some really cool Tag a Bag Gift Bags and Tag a Bag Gift Boxes.

I used the Tags to make quick thank you's for my ladies that attended last weekend's workshop.  All I had to do was punch some butterflies from the Elegant Butterfly (127526) and the Bitty Butterfly (129406), stamp a quick "thank you".  I used Itty Bitty Banners (w-132022 / c-126247) but you could use any stamps you wanted to use.  I actually cut them out instead of using the Bitty Banners Framelits (129267).  The tags are perforated and just need to be popped out and they are ready to use.  They even have a nice hole punched ready for a ribbon.

The colors used are:  Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Gumball Green and Tangerine Tango.  Smoky Slate also comes in the set, but I didn't use it for this particular project.

So, check them out and pick some up to have when you need a last minute tag and while you're there, pick up the Gift Bags and Gift Boxes as well.  They are both awesome for those last minute gifts!

Happy Friday!  Stay safe this weekend and if you are from Arizona, be sure to stay hydrated as we're expecting 119 degree temperatures!  YIKES!!!

Thanks for looking in today.

Don't Forget... My Birthday Calendar Book

Come join me for a first ever unique event!  RSVP and Pre-Payment due by July 1st - Class held July 13th - or, if you are not in the area, I can mail your book on July 15th.

How many times have you forgotten a birthday and had to rush like crazy to make a card that would work in a pinch?  I know I have, but with my new Birthday Calendar Book, I hope to never again forget to have a birthday card ready for that someone special.

This class will be a day of crafting and fun with friends.  You'll make a beautiful Birthday Calendar Book for you to stash away cards so you will always be ready for that next birthday!

The class will include products from the new This and That product line as well as extras to decorate your cover, pages and organize the perfect book with pockets to tuck your cards into.

The fee is $30.00 and includes everything you need to put your book together except for adhesives.  Recommended adhesives are Tombo Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755) "green glue" and / or Sticky Strip (104294).  You want to be sure this stays together with a good strong adhesive.  Be sure to have your basic tool kit with Bone Folder (102300), Paper Snips (103579) and a Pen (for adding those special birthdays!)

If you come to the class, you will be able to use my border punch here and any additional stamps you may want to use to add even more to your book.

If you don't live nearby but would still like to make this book, I can also do a Long Distance Kit by mail with full detailed instructions and everything you need to put it together, except for the border punch and adhesives.  The Long Distance Kit would cost $36 to cover postage.

Since I will need to order the books and the supplies ahead of time, you will need to RSVP and pre-pay no later than July 1st for those attending the class.  If you wish to do the class by mail your pre-payment and RSVP are also due by July 1st and the kits will be mailed out as soon as they are all ready to go, but no later than July 13th.

Please contact me by email if you would like to RSVP and I can give you the information for payment.

I think this will be a fun class and I think you'll be pleased with the results.

Gingham Garden Thank You

My apologies for missing yesterday's posting.  My computer decided to go haywire about the time I was attempting to post on Friday night for Saturday morning.  It was easier to just tell it "good-night" and start up fresh the next day.

Today was my first workshop for the new catalog and we had a grand time with our BOGO sale and our Hostess Brittney had one of the best attendance for any of our events at my house.  We had ELEVEN people here, plus me.  It was a fun fun day!

Can you tell I love this Gingham Garden DSP?  Maybe soon I'll actually use the Gingham side of the paper, but I love these flowers so much!

Ditto Day Returns with Cheers Card

With the new catalog out and new projects inside, I decided it was time for a new attempt at Ditto Day.  A day where I make one of the cards or projects from the catalog.

This one can be found on page 36.  I actually was going to do this at a workshop, but decided since it was a group of newbies, that maybe fussy cutting the straw and the umbrella would be too much, so I didn't duplicate them for the card.

The hardest part of this card is fussy cutting the drink glasses and accessories, but as my BFF once told me, she loves to fussy-cut, she says it's relaxing... and you know, I have to agree, it's not so bad.

The trick to remember is move your paper, not your scissors.  Have your scissors open to a comfortable position and slowly begin cutting, but as you cut, move the paper in your hand and hold your scissors in the same position and then just gently cut slowly around the image.

Stamps Well With Others' Recipe:

Stamp Set:  Happy Hour (w-132013 / c-126642)
Card Stock:  Coastal Cabana and Whisper White
Ink Pads:  Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie
Stampin' Write Markers:  Real Red, Gumball Green
Stampin' Dimensionals

Have a wonderful Father's Day and hug your Daddy extra for me and if your Dad is no longer with us, like mine, I trust he's looking down from Heaven and smiling on you and your family!

Something Completely Different

I just have to share these beautiful pictures with you.  On Friday, I had the day off work and the night before I learned about a place in Scottsdale, AZ called Butterfly World.  So off we went to check it out.

This is the first time I've uploaded my own video, so I hope it works!  (If you are reading this in your email, you'll need to go to my blog to view the video.)

They say there are over 2000 butterflies flying throughout the huge atrium they have there.  I don't know who gets the job of counting them, but I sure wouldn't want to do it!  lol

This one that hubby is holding could only be seen with it's wings closed, unless it was flying - so I hope you can see the video as there are lots of them flying around there.  They have the most beautiful vibrant blue wings I've ever seen.  Just gorgeous!

This beautiful orange one - or one like it - landed on a lady that had this shade of orange shirt and you can see it really likes the matching flowers.  Next time I go, I'm wearing ORANGE!  Funny thing is, when you come in and go out, you have to wait for someone to open the doors that lead to a room in between doors.  When leaving the atrium there's a big mirror on the wall that you have to make sure no escapee's are trying to leave.  I actually had one on my knee that I didn't see, thankfully the caretaker did.

I finally got one on my finger to stay long enough for a picture.  All the other times, they flew away too quickly.

Last but not least... check out these two.  Surrounded by beautiful butterflies and there they sat on the bench, texting or facebooking, or who knows what.  I wanted to yank that ponytail and tell them to just go away.  LOL  They obviously didn't pay the admission price out of their pockets.  Sheesh!

I hope you have a great weekend planned.  Don't forget Father's Day!  My Dad is in Heaven... I miss him like crazy!

Thanks for looking in.

Oh Hello Modern Medley

Another couple of quick and easy (and beautiful) cards for a Friday morning.

  • Begin with a Very Vanilla base card of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"
  • Cut a second piece of Very Vanilla at 5 1/4" x 4"
  • Cut a piece of DSP (Modern Medley - 126926 - is used here) 4" x 2" and adhere just inside the left edge.
  • Color with Stampin' Up! Markers onto the flower from Oh, Hello (w-131931 / c-130733).  The flower is colored with Primrose Petals and the stem and leaves with Gumball Green.  Gently "huff" (breathe like when cleaning your eyeglasses) onto the stamp - to re-moisten the ink and stamp onto the Very Vanilla.
  • Stamp with Primrose Petals using the "Thank You" from Best of Greetings (133485)
  • Add a piece of 3/8" Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon (126844).
  • Attach to card base and you're done!

Thanks for looking in today.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Simply Sketched - Simply Beautiful

You really need to hold a workshop and earn the chance to get this Hostess Set - Simply Sketched.  I just LOVE all the uses for this set and it's so simple to work with with beautiful results.

I found this idea on Patty Bennett's website and simply had to make it.  I even commented on it to her on her blog and was pleased when she wrote back to me.  She was really pleased when I shared my version with her, that made me feel so good!

What do you think?  Isn't this pretty?  I really like how it came out and it was really very easy.

  • Begin by cutting a mask out of cardstock with your Paper Trimmer.  I cut mine 3 inches long and 2 inches wide.
  • Next, using our Stamping Sponges (cut into wedges) sponge 2 colors of ink onto Whisper White (5 1/4" x 4"). I used Crisp Canteloupe and Pistachio Pudding.  Move your sponge in a circular motion for even coverage, beginning with your sponge on the mask and moving onto the Whisper White.
  • I stamped the leaves with Basic Gray, but stamped off TWICE before stamping onto the colors.  I believe the new Smoky Slate will be perfect without stamping off, but I haven't ordered mine just yet (new stamps were way more important!  LOL)
  • Stamp the flowers with Black StazOn and then carefully using our Sponge Dauber add color to the flower.
  • Using dimensionals mount the Whisper White onto Pistachio Pudding card base (5 1/2" x 8 1/2" - scored at 4 1/4").  It also looks beautiful on Crisp Canteloupe.

Thank you for looking in today.  Have a happy Thursday!

Wood Mount Cases - Label Inserts

Did you know, you can easily convert all your current would mount stamp cases to the NEW Wood-Mount cases for easier storage?  You can print out labels that will print on the front and on the spine of your label so you can see the name of each stamp set easily.  The document is two pages each, but you would only need to print page 1.  Additionally, the images won't be pre-printed on the make-it-yourself labels, but you could certainly stamp them on the front to know what you have inside.

Simply click on the link below for the half size or full size insert.  Type the name of your set you are switching over and the number of stamps in that set and print!

New Wood-Mount Cases

Introducing our new wood-mount stamp set packaging! These new cases are similar to our clear-mount boxes and fit perfectly on the shelf right next to them. They also have the images and stamp set name on the spine to make your search for the right set even easier.

Starting May 31 all wood-mount sets will come in this new packaging.  Empty cases will be available with the launch of the new catalog. That means you can transfer all your old sets to these new boxes!   PLUS - as you can see in the video, the boxes have so many other uses besides just stamp storage!  Woo Hoo!

A pack of four half-size cases (3-3/4" x 5-1/2") will sell for $4.95 and a pack of four full-size cases (7-1/2" x 5-1/2") will be $6.95.

Bombs Away Birthday Photopolymer Stamps

I haven't mentioned our Photopolymer CLEAR stamps lately and I should keep them at the top of my list!  I absolutely LOVE these truly clear stamps.  It's so easy easy easy to position them exactly where you want them on your cardstock.  They also have a very clean look to them.

Here's a couple of cards I whipped up quickly to post.  I like the color combination of Night of Navy and Pear Pizzazz, along with Whisper White of course.  The ink Night of Navy.  The DSP is Gingham Garden.
