Lovely as a Tree for Sympathy

Time for another sympathy card.  This one was expected, but it doesn't make it any easier.  I suppose I should have made them sooner, but there's just something wrong with making a sympathy card for someone specific, before it is needed.  

Thank goodness for Lovely as a Tree.  This set is great for so many things - I hope this set never goes away.

Recipe:

Soft Suede Base - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Very Vanilla - 5 1/4" x 4"    OR  5 3/8" x 4 1/8" (second vision)
Soft Suede 5" x 3 3/4"
Very Vanilla - 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"

Garden in Bloom Sympathy

Time for more Sympathy Cards.  I'm beginning to think I need to just make a batch of these so I don't have to keep making more.  Two different women we know lost their Brother's in the last couple of days.  That's so sad.  My brother and I aren't close - we're 11 years apart in age - but I would still be devastated if I lost him.

I wanted something soft and blue for both of these.  Soft Sky fits the bill nicely and and I think goes really well with Smoky Slate.

Recipe:
Soft Sky - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Smoky Slate - 5" x 3 3/4"
Whisper White - 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"

Stamps:  Garden in Bloom, Thoughts and Prayers, A Dozen Thoughts
Ink - Soft Sky
Embellishments - Pearl Basic Jewels (and some retired Large Pearl Basic Jewels)

Butterfly Basics - Sympathy

Needed another sympathy card for a customer, so I decided to make a couple of extras.  Maybe we won't need them if we have them available.

Recipe:

Base:  Soft Suede 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"

Layer:  Soft Sky / Blushing Bride  

Top:  Very Vanilla

Butterfly:  Soft Sky / Blushing Bride

Stamps:  Butterfly Basics, Thoughts and Prayers

Ink:  Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Soft Sky / Blushing Bride

I stamped the honeycomb with Sahara Sand but stamped off once onto scrap paper first.  The flower and stem combination are also stamped with Sahara Sand.

On the Soft Sky card I stamped the strip with Soft Sky after stamping off once.  For the Blushing Bride card, I didn't stamp off - it was too light to do that.

Pretty Petals DSP

Another pretty paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack.  The flowers in this stack are so beautiful and can be used for so many cards.

This card will be a sympathy for a friend who lost one of their fur-babies.  

Recipe:
Card base - Calypso Coral - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"

Love & Sympathy Cards

Do you ever feel like you should just sit down and make a BUNCH of cards that can be used for anything?  I'm beginning to think that, especially for the too many needed sympathy card. 

I went with my old faithful Love & Sympathy set.  This time I chose to use Calypso Coral and added an extra layer of Whisper White under the Whisper White with the stamped area.  I think it looks pretty good - what do you think?

I love this flower.  It's so easy to color with our Stampin' Write Markers and then stamp onto the card stock.  Being a small stamp and the fact that the stamp isn't smooth, makes it a perfect marker to stamp process.

 

On one of the cards, I was too anxious to put it together and forgot to stamp the Love and Sympathy on the front, so the message is conveyed inside.  Works for me!

• Cut oval from the Ovals Thinlits
• Ink the flower and leaves from Love & Sympathy with your Stampin' Write Markers - Wisteria Wonder and Wild Wasabi
• Sponge edge with Wisteria Wonder
• Stamp sentiment from Love & Sympathy
• Punch with Extra Large Oval
• Sponge edge with Wisteria Wonder
• Pop up ovals with Stampin' Dimensionals
• Inside Whisper White - 5 1/4" x 4

Lotus Blossom Revisited

You may think you've seen this already and you'd be close to being correct.  I decided this card first seen HERE, needed a little tweeking.  Additionally, I needed a couple of Sympathy cards and I thought this card would be perfect for it.

I decided I wanted a little mat between the two Rose Red papers, so I added a bit of Blackberry Bliss to match the mat around the Whisper White.  I also changed the Rhinestones to a larger size and colored them with Rich Razzleberry Dark from Blendabilities.

Lovely as a Tree Sympathy

I needed to make a sympathy card for someone special and remembered seeing something similar to this when I was looking around in the last few weeks.  I just remember loving the idea of using the spotlighting technique. 

Looks pretty good and so simple to make!
 

 

I have to admit, I did cheat a little on the squares.  I ended up using my retired 1 1/4" Square Punch, but it would be very easy to do the same idea with your Paper Trimmer (126889) or even the Squares Collection Framelits (130921).

 

Start with Chocolate Chip card stock cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".  Next layer is Crumb Cake card stock 5 1/4" x 4".  Stamp the tree collection from Lovely as a Tree (w-128655 / c-127793) onto the Crumb Cake and then ink it up and stamp again onto Very Vanilla. 

 

Punch / Cut / Die Cut the squares and gently sponge them with Chocolate Chip Ink and place them on top of the Crumb Cake layer matching them up carefully.  ** TIP ALERT** Using the liquid Tombo glue (110755) here is the best adhesive choice because it gives you a little bit of "slip" to slide the card stock around if it's not exactly where you want it to be.

 

Stamp your sentiment - it could be anything really, Birthday, Father's Day, Sympathy... it's always up to you and add a piece of Baker's Twine.  I used Thoughts and Prayers (w-128751 / c-127805) for this card. 

 

Pop up the Crumb Cake cardstock with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430) and attach to the Chocolate Chip.

Inside place another piece of Crumb Cake (5 1/4" x 4") and stamp your inside sentiment.

Love & Sympathy

All too often we find ourselves in need of a Sympathy Card.  The husband of a dear friend of my boss passed away this past weekend so out came my "go to" set for such an occasion.  I really do love this set and it makes such a beautiful card.

Base card cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4"

Perfect Plum 5 1/4" x 4", Very Vanilla 5" x 3 3/4" run through Big Shot with Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335) / Whisper White 5 1/4" x 4" with Embossing Folder

Oval cut with Ovals Collection Framelits (129381)

Stamps:  Love & Sympathy (w-128652 / c-122797)

Ink:  Perfect Plum

Stampin' Write Markers:  Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi
