Flowering Desert Says Hi There!

If you live in Arizona, you simply must have this stamp set: Flowering Desert.  It is just too cute not to have and use to send to all your friends.

I cased this from Sharon Armstrong.  When I spotted this while searching for ideas, I fell in love with these cute little Prickly Pear Cactus waving hello!  Well, that's what they looked like to me and I thought I simply had to CASE (copy and share everything) it.  I didn't look to see what colors she used, but I used Real Red for the cardstock and Lovely Lipstick for the ink.  Apparently I've used all my Lovely Lipstick cardstock - it's on my next order!

Recipe:
Whisper White Thick Cardstock - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Real Red - 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White - 5" x 3 3/4"
Real Red - 1 3/4" x 1" (for sentiment mat)
Whisper White - 1 1/2" x 3/4" (for sentiment)

Stamps:  Flowering Desert, Waterfront
Ink:  Lovely Lipstick, Tranquil Tide, Soft Suede

When stamping the mountains and the desert floor, ink up your stamp with Soft Suede and stamp full strength and then keep stamping with the remainder of the ink on the stamp.

Don't you just want to wave back at these cute little guys?  Hi Cacti!

Thank you for looking in today.  We'll be taking Nike in to get his stitches out and then I'm off for some crafting fun with Sue and Danita.  Danita is my dear sweet friend from Southern Arizona who is in town for Sue's workshop on Saturday, but today will be a day for just the three of us to stamp, laugh, create and have a fun time!

Dollar Tree Birthday Finds

So, as you may know, I really love making these Birthday in a Bag gifts.  To find more supplies, I went to the Dollar Store this past weekend and stocked up so I can make so many more bags!  I'm so excited!

At the Dollar Store, I was able to find balloons that actually said Happy Birthday on them 15 in a package for, you guessed it, $1.00.  Can you see the fun little confetti there in the picture.  I've got enough of that stuff to last FOR-EV-ER... ha ha ha!  This one went to a co-worker who had a birthday on Tuesday.  The cake in a mug is a chocolate cake this time and I wrapped the candies with Broadway Bound Designer Series Papers.

To see the details and tutorial from the original post, click HERE.

On the outside I used some spare parts that I made from the last How Sweet It Is project.  If you click on the picture, it should open in a new window so you can see the sentiment better.  It is cut out with the Stitched Rectangles dies.

Thank you for looking in today!  It's HUMP Day!  I just love this commercial... I had to share it again!  If you are reading this in  your email and you can't see the video, you will need to go directly to the blog for today.

Birthday Boy #2

Today my baby turns 33 years old!  Yikes!!!  He can't be that old, I'm not nearly old enough to have two adult children, how is this possible!?

But... since I do, we went out to celebrate on Sunday by going to a late lunch at Bobby Q's in Phoenix.  The most amazing pulled pork and brisket in the world as far as I'm concerned!  The portions are big so there's always leftovers for the next day, so I'm looking forward to my lunch to day for sure!

Recipe:

  • Real Red - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper - 4" wide and then cut at an angle.  Depending on what you want to put above and below.
  • Granny Apple Green - for die cut greeting
  • Whisper White - 4" x 5 1/4" - inside panel

Stamps - Detailed with Love (inside sentiment)
Dies - Well Written Framelits Dies (best as a bundle - Well Said)

This is just a very very simple card, but I like the way it came out.

and now for a Nike Update:

Nike is doing very well with his recovery.  He hasn't been fussing with his stitches, which I was really worried about because well, he's a dog and dogs lick everything!

He uses the leg a little and goes pretty slow, which is just fine with me, because he does have a high speed if something gets his attention and the Vet doesn't want.  His stitches will be coming out this Friday and we'll see what the Vet has to say then as far as healing and the future.

Thank you for looking in today and thank you to all who have inquired about his recover and sending him sweet cards.
