Thank You For Your Service

With all the protests across the country these last few days and the senseless killing of police officers in Dallas on Thursday, my husband and I wanted to do something nice for any officers we might see in our daily life.  It was actually his idea to pick up some Starbucks Cards, I was so proud of him.  I added the card!  

I figure we could use the cards in whatever way comes up.  If we're at breakfast or lunch and there are officers there, we can pick up the tab and have the waitress give them the card instead of the bill or we could put the coffee card inside and just hand them out as we see an officer out and about.

These eight cards whipped up in about 30 minutes.  They are our notecard sized notes with envelopes and are just very quick and simple.

Memorial Day Thank You

In looking through some old files today, I wanted to share a card from a couple of years ago made from Work of Art.  Amazing how looking back a couple of years makes you realize how much my style and creativity have changed. 

Just pretend it is a very strong wind blowing this flag out of whack.  Then it looks pretty good.

Work of Art Snowman

Who doesn't love a great snowman?  Especially when you can build one without your hands getting cold and wet!

I spotted a snowman similar to this last year but never had a chance to make it since last year was filled with long hours at the office during our election cycle.  For those of you who are new to my blog, I work a full time job for the County Election Department in addition to my love of Stampin' Up!  Most of the time there are normal hours, but during an election year, normal hours can be 10 hour days (and longer) which cuts into stamping time and pillow time.  Pillow time wins out most of the time, unless unwinding is the priority and then stamping wins, for a bit.

So, on to the card.  

The base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
The 2nd layer is Real Red, 5 1/4" x 4" 
The top layer for the snowman is  5" x 3 3/4"

Stamps:  Work of Art, Versatile Christmas

Use the branch from the Bird Builder Punch and a scrap of Old Olive on the hat brim and punch from Red Glimmer paper using the Itty Bitty Accents Punch for the flower.

Be sure to have your Whisper White laying on a piece of copy paper or stamping grid paper so you can stamp the "hat" off the corner.  The hat is the large squarish stamp and the long thin stamp for the hat brim.  Stamp with Memento Black.

Next, stamp the eyes using the round stamp from the set and then stamp the heart for his nose with Pumpkin Pie.  After you have the nose where you want it, you can stamp the smile.  My first attempt had the round stamps too far apart, so practice on a piece of scrap paper first to see what you like best.

Take the long wide "swoosh" stamp and using Real Red, stamp his scarf and then two more hanging down like the tails of the scarf would be.

I used Snowflake Elements on his scarf and dressed it up with a Rhinestone  

The inside sentiment I used a stamp from Versatile Christmas.  It seemed like the perfect choice.  There are a lot of great stamps in that set.

Masculine Thoughts and Prayers

While I was making yesterday's sympathy cards, I also made this one, but wasn't terribly happy with it.  However, a couple of the girls at the office liked it, so I figured maybe I was just being too critical.  Perhaps if the swooshes were a little lighter, I'd like it better.

Crumb Cake - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Night of Navy - 5" x 3 3/4"
Whisper White - 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"
English Garden Designer Series Paper - 3 5/8" x 1 1/2"

Stamps - Work of Art, Thoughts & Prayers
Ink - Soft Suede, Old Olive, Memento Black

After inking up the "swoosh" from Work of Art with Soft Suede, I stamped it off once onto scrap paper to remove some of the ink and then stamped it onto the card.  I did the same with the Old Olive and then stamped both of the Old Olive swoosh onto the card.

Over the top I stamped the flowers from Thoughts & Prayers with Memento Black as well as the sentiment from the same set.

Work of Art Butterflies

Last week at our team meeting I was honored to receive a beautiful card from my upline, Lorri Heiling, for having the highest sales for June.  I was also thrilled to be named Demonstrator of the Year for our Team - weSTAMP while we were at Convention.  Lorri was sweet enough to put it on her blog here.  Extra thanks go to all of you, my customers, for helping me achieve that award!  Thank you!

So, back to the card from Lorri.  The card was so beautiful, I had to make several of them.  I believe Lorri used Smoky Slate, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzazz.  I wanted to try some other colors so chose Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Mint Macaron (stamped off once).

Recipe:

Base - Whisper White Thick cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Layer - Whisper White cardstock - 5 1/4" x 4"

Stamps:  Work of Art, A Dozen Thoughts, Happy Happenings, One Big Meaning
Ink:  Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Mint Macaron

Tools & Accessories:  Butterflies Framelits, Pearl Basic Jewels, Stamp-a-majig

Stamp your favorite colors using the Stamp-a-majig so they line up perfectly, then using the Butterflies framelits cut out the butterfly, being careful to keep matched sets together if you are making more than one.

Pop the layer up with dimensionals around the edges and around the edges of the butterfly outline, then glue the center of the butterfly down to the card base.

Dress with pearls or rhinestones and you have a beautiful card for any occasion.

Work of Art Carries Over!

I was so happy to see that this stamp set ~Work of Art~ carried over to the new Annual Catalog!  So many uses for this fabulous set.

This is one of the cards we made at our team Founder's Circle last weekend.  I see this one being a make and take this weekend!  So pretty and so easy.  It can be a great masculine card as well with the right colors and probably no button or bow.

Very Vanilla, Island Indigo, Delightful Dijon card stock

To stamp the zig-zag, ink up your stamp with Island Indigo - stamp once, then move it down and stamp again.  Same ink, two colors.  Love how that works!

You can use your Stamp-a-majig, but honestly, it's very easy to line up just by looking at the points of the stamp.  That's what I did.

This card can be any type of card.  We used "thank you", but you could make it birthday or really, anything you would like.

Don't forget to stamp your envelope for some fun color outside too!

I'm planning my first New Catalog Open House and wanted to make some fun invites for my regular customers so they can mark the date!

What better way than showing off the 2015-2017 In Colors?  

For these cards I used our Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes.  

I used Work of Art and Cupcake Party for stamping on the front of the cards.  Inside will be my typed invite with all the details.  If I were brave, I'd attempt to feed the cards through the printer to print the details inside, but the last thing I need is to jam up the printer!

What do you think of the newest In-Colors?  They're growing on me.  My favorites are Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder.

Watermelon Thank You

Saturday's workshop order arrived today and everything is sorted and ready to deliver! 

I've had several comments on my "Sweet" watermelon Work of Art card (click here to see it if you missed it) so I wanted to make that this month's little thank you note. 

This is SO easy to make.  I stamped the watermelon rind with Old Olive and the flesh of the watermelon with Strawberry Slush.  Sounds wrong, I know, but it works so perfectly!

The "seeds" are punched from Basic Black card stock using the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack and gave them a little highlight with the white Signo Gel Pen.  Then tied it up on the side with some Strawberry Slush Thick Bakers Twine.
