A Good Man

It's birthday time for Uncle Lou and I've been anxious to make this card for his birthday.  Of course, he's nothing like this guy in the chair, as a matter of fact, this week he and my Aunt Erica have been biking (bicycle, not motorcycle) across parts of Pennsylvania.  These two don't sit still, that is for sure!  So, maybe he'll like this relaxing guy for when they return home!

Recipe:
Mossy Meadow - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper - 2 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Old Olive - Stitched Rectangles - 2 5/8" x 4"
Whisper White - Stitched Rectangles - 2 1/4" x 3 1/2"
Whisper White - 4" x 5 1/4" (inside panel)

Stamps: A Good Man
Ink:  Memento Black

Thank you for looking in today!  Happy Friday!

I'm off to stamp with friends for the weekend!  Wooo Hooo!

Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper - 4" x 5 1/4"
Night of Navy - 2 5/8" x 3 5/8"
Whisper White - 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Whisper White - 4" x 5 1/4" (inside panel)

Stamps:  Sailing Home, Itty Bitty Greetings
Ink:  Night of Navy

Seaside Notions

These cards were so fast and easy and I really love the simplicity of them.

Recipe:
Soft Suede - 4 1/4" x 11", scored and folded at 5 1/2"
Soft Sea Foam - 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
Crumb Cake - 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
Soft Sea Foam - 4" x 5 1/4" (inside panel)

Did you notice the Seahorse and the Sand Dollar are overlapped a bit?  I stamped the Seahorse first and then stamped it again onto a post it note so I could stamp the Sand Dollar over without the line going through the nose. (assuming that's a nose?)

Inside - Soft Sea Foam (I wish it photographed better!) I thought the color is light enough that it would make a nice inside panel instead of Whisper White or Very Vanilla.

Remember to save cardstock by stamping the sentiment on the panel that will be the mat behind the Crumb Cake and then punching or die cutting.  The Crumb Cake panel will complete cover the punched area and you'll have saved some scraps!

Thank you for looking in today.  If you don't already have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I would love to be yours!  Contact me with any questions.  I'd love to hear from you.

Geared Up Birthday

This birthday card is for the final office birthday for the month of May.  It has been a very busy month!  So, this card has a little secret message.  Do you see the shadow behind the car?  That's the little secret.

Perhaps I should explain.  A few months ago at the office, there was the sound of a cat in the electrical room.  We all thought we were going a bit crazy, but that's exactly what was there.  A cat.  It had apparently fallen through the ceiling and couldn't get back out.  Once we got the door unlocked he went into hiding.  Eventually Animal Control came and remarkably got him out very quickly.  He didn't act feral, was very calm in the carrier and one of our staff, Jake (the birthday boy today), asked how he could adopt him.  He had to wait for a couple of days, but then was able to be first at the shelter to take him home.

He named him Eric and he's still a bit shy, so I thought perhaps he would like to hide behind the car for Jake's birthday card.  He's kind of a Siamese mix so I think the rendition here matches him pretty well from the pictures I had of him.

Recipe:
Tranquil Tide - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Classic Garage Designer Series Paper - 4" x 5 1/4"
Classic Garage Designer Series Paper - Die Cut the Car
Tranquil Tide - cut with Rectangle Stitched Framelits
Whisper White - cut with Rectangle Stitched Framelits

Geared Up for Birthdays

Starting on Sunday, our office is overflowing with birthdays with one every day except Wednesday and Thursday.  Two of them are guys and three of us are girls!  So, here is the first guy card for Sunday.  I want to make sure he receives it tomorrow.

Naturally, he's a car guy and he is a classic, so one of these will be his.  Do you like the wide Smoky Slate border or the narrow one?  I think I like the narrow one because it matches nicely with the thin lines of the car sketches.

Recipe for the narrow border:

Basic Black - 4 1/4" x 11", scored and folded at 5 1/2"
Smoky Slate - 3 3/4" x 5"
Classic Garage Designer Series Paper - 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
Smoky Slate - 1 1/4 x 3 1/4" Rectangle Stitched Dies

Recipe for the wide border (the only difference is in the DSP)

Basic Black - 4 1/4" x 11", scored and folded at 5 1/2"
Smoky Slate - 3 3/4" x 5"
Classic Garage Designer Series Paper - 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
Smoky Slate - 1 1/4 x 3 1/4" Rectangle Stitched Dies

Stamps:  Geared Up Garage and Blow Out the Candles (inside sentiment)
Ink:  Memento Black

Thank you for looking in today.  So happy it's one day closer to the weekend!!

Country Livin'

I wanted to share another swap card from earlier this month.  I'm so happy that this set isn't retiring.  It is one of my favorites to use for quick masculine cards.

This one by Lori Getz is so well done.  I love the lasso she made with the linen twine

Thank you Lori for your awesome swap - the layers are perfect and really make these boots pop!

Thank you all for looking in today.  Happy Tuesday!

Pizza Dad

Is this clever or what?  This was one of our make and takes from our last Team Meeting, and I just love it so much.  Even though my Dad is gone, I know there are others who will love making it for their Dad.

I can also see making the 2nd "D" a "Y" instead and stamping Happy Birth and let the DAY be the focal point.

Recipe:
Crumb Cake - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Crumb Cake - 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" (cut with Stitched Rectangle of about that size)
Die Cut (2) "D" using Large Letter Dies (Retiring)
Stamp Sentiment where desired in Memento Black
Sponge edges of all Crumb Cake edges with Crumb Cake ink

Cut out a So Saffron Circle from the Large Circle Dies (the one about 3" in diameter)
Trim to a pie shape triangle that is about 2 1/4" - sponge edges with Cherry Cobbler ink

Cut out a Crumb Cake Scallop from the Large Circle Dies (the one about 3" in diameter) and trim so the edge fits under the pizza triangle - sponge edges with Crumb Cake ink

Run a piece of Cherry Cobbler through the Big Shot with Softly Falling embossing folder - punch with 1" Circle punch - sponge with Cherry Cobbler ink.

Using Basic Black Cardstock, punch 1/4" circles and then punch the 1/2" circle over that "hole" to make olives.

Punch a "bite" out of the pizza with a small scallop punch.

Thank you for looking in today!  It's Friday and it's workshop day, so I'm off to have a Cinco de Star Wars Day with the girls.  Wait until you see what I have planned... after we have it of course!

Dutch Door Swap Card

This is the card I made for our Team Swap on Monday night.  I first made this on April 25th and decided I wanted to make it for my swap.  Boy was that a LOT of work, but worth it because I'm really happy with how it came out.  You can see the original card HERE.

Recipe Measurements:
Base - Real Red - 8" x 7 1/8" - see below for template for folding and cutting

Whisper White:
3 3/4" x 3" - front panel
4 1/4" x 3 1/2" inside panel
1 7/8" x 1 1/2" (cut four) small panels

Basic Black:
4" x 3 1/4" - front panel
4 1/2" x 3 3/4" - inside panel
2 1/8" x 1 3/4" (cut four) small panels
3 3/4" x 2 1/8" (cut 2) inside and outside vertical panels

Designer Series Paper - Classic Garage (retiring - grab it soon if you like it!)
3 1/2" x 1 7/8" (cut 2) inside and outside vertical panels

I love that this stamp set is carrying over and that it has so many great stamps to fill all the panels.  So fun!

Start with a piece of cardstock - 8" x 7 1/8"

On the 8" side, score at 2" and 6", then turn to the left (counter clockwise) and score at 2 3/8" from top to bottom.  Turn all the way around and score at 2 3/8" but only to the 2" and 6" scores you made first.  See Below.

The panels with the X on them, you will remove completely, just snip them out.  Be careful to snip the correct ones... ask me how I know.  LOL

This is how it will look when it is cut and scored.

Then add the panels that are made with the Whisper White and Basic Black.

I'd love to see some of the ideas that you come up with!

Thank you for looking in today.  Happy Hump Day - it's MAY!

All Geared Up

Another masculine card, that I just now as I type this, realize that I didn't make it a Birthday Card, which is what I need... argh... ha ha ha!  Well, I'll duplicate it tomorrow for a birthday.  Besides, I made a bit of a glue error that off set my front panel a bit.  I'll fix that too!

Recipe:
Basic Black - 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" scored and folded at 3" (OR you could start with 4 1/4" x 11", score and fold at 5 1/2" and then cut off 2 1/2" - which will be used as the front panel)
Basic Black - 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" (or the left over piece at the same size)
Whisper White - 2 1/4" x 4" (front panel)
Whisper White - 4" x 5 1/4" (inside panel)
Classic Garage Designer Series Paper 2 3/4" x 4" AND 1" x 4" (inside)

The car is cut from the Designer Series Paper using the dies that go with this bundle.  The back of the car paper for this pattern is orange.  Look how awesome it looks behind the car when using dimensionals.  Almost like it is lit up.

Thank you for looking in today!  Have a Blessed Sunday!
