The Knot is Tied

Saturday night was filled with love, laughter and a few tears as my son Billy and his sweetheart Danielle, became husband and wife.  It was a beautiful late afternoon / evening for a wedding in Phoenix, AZ.  The weather was perfect, a few high clouds that helped keep in the warmth of the day and a gorgeous sky for the evening.

Check out how they were prepared for the evening coolness and possible flying critters.  If you click on the picture, it should open in another tab so you can see better.  The little box on top has bug repellant and the sign says "be smitten, not bitten" and below in the bigger boxes were snuggly blankets "to have and to hold in case you get cold".  Is that amazingly clever?  I loved it

Just before their ceremony began.  One of Billy's friends is Ordained and performed the ceremony.  Remember I said at the beginning, there were tears?  Well, he puddled up a couple of times.  It was very endearing!

The Best Man, standing behind Billy is my other son, Robert.  It was so nice to see them both dressed up and looking extremely handsome! (just ignore the cameraman... lol)

The Arbor was made by Billy and his Dad.  They did an amazing job on it.  It looked so nice.

At the rehearsal dinner the night before, we were presented with little surprises.  I just love mine!  Mother of the Groom!  They even honored the step-parents, which I thought was really nice.

The kids asked me to make some reserved seat signs for the wedding party and family to hold their seats.  Here is what I came up with.  The font I pulled from the internet and printed them out on Crumb Cake.  Then I cut them into the sizes you see below and then inked them with our Woodgrain background stamp.

After they were finished I decided they needed to be personalized so added their initials on one side, the date on the other, then on the bottom White Wedding, 2018.  They loved them when I showed them to them on Friday.

I also made signs for the family tables.  I only have one to show which was mine but there was also one for White and Davis.

These kids are Koozie Crazy... lol.  They had these set out today for the guests near where the bottled water, beer and soda's were.  There were plenty left, so I snagged a couple for us as well.  Mom deserves it, right?  

Lastly, there was one of these at each place setting.  I didn't make these, but I could have.  I love the wood grain top they had.  While I could have made them, I would have needed at least 120 of them, so I have to admit, it's good I didn't need to make them.  They came out really great though, I think.

Wedding Wishes

Finally a request for a special card that isn't a Sympathy Card.  So nice!  One of the gals at the office needs a card for her niece who is getting married this Friday.  This was the first thing I thought of .

Simple and elegant at the same time.

Recipe:
Very Vanilla - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Very Vanilla - 5 1/4" x 4"
Very Vanilla - 5" x 4" (for die cutting the rose)

Stamps - Floral Phrases
Ink - Soft Suede
Dies - Rose Garden Thinlits

For the New Two

Today my best friend from high school walked her youngest daughter down the aisle to marry the man of her dreams!  Something that special calls for a beautiful card.

This is what I came up with.  I have to say, I'm really tickled with it!

I began with Whisper White Thick Cardstock (140272) - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"

The next layer is also the Whisper White Thick cut at 5 1/4" x 4" and run through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (139672).

Even the Bloomin' Heart Thinlits Dies (140621) was used with the Whisper White Thick Cardstock.  I wanted this to be a nice solid card that would last forever.

I popped up both layers with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Some had to be cut pretty small to fit on some of the little leaves at the edge, but it worked well.

Across the bottom I cut a piece of Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum (141019) FREE as a Sale-a-Bration item with a purchase of $50 (before tax and shipping).  I cut it 2" x 6" stamped it with For the New Two (137147) from the Annual Catalog using StazOn Black (101406) and letting it dry for quite a while.  Vellum takes longer to dry, but it sure has a nice look, I just wish you could see it better!

I then folded it over the Softly Falling layer and taped it onto the back with just basic scotch tape.

I added Pearl Basic Jewels (119247) to the flower centers and a bow of  5/8" Organza Ribbon (114319).

Inside I made a pocket from Whisper White Cardstock (not thick) cut 2" x 4 3/4" and scored at 1/4" on either side.  I also added more of the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum to the outside of this before sealing it to the inside of the card with Tear and Tape Adhesive (138995).

 Perfect pocket for a gift card!

Inside I stamped another sentiment from For the New Two.

Don't forget the envelope.  Because it wasn't being mailed, I stamped on the outside for placing in the gift basket at the wedding.  Perfect!

Post Wedding Thank You

If you've been following my blog much at all, you'll know there was a lot of wedding prep posts over the past few months.  Click HERE to see the invites and a few of the preps we did. 

This past weekend, we (the bride, the niece and myself) made thank you cards for Brittney to write and mail.  I think they came out beautifully and with three of us working on them, they came together quickly and easily.

Okay Mrs. Johnson, time to start writing those notes!

Cozy Christmas

Well the wedding on Saturday was really nice.  The weather cooperated and the temperature was perfect.  They had a sunset wedding just like they wanted and they even had the International Space Station flying over shortly after the "I Do".  Brittney and I both LOVE The Big Bang Theory, so she was thrilled when I told her the ISS was scheduled to fly over Phoenix at 6:44 p.m.  - For those who don't watch TBBT, two of the characters were married on the roof of their building just as Google Earth was going over.  So it's close!  :)

Today's card however, is on to Christmas!  Christmas is really my favorite time of year and I absolutely LOVE the Designer Series Papers we have this year.  There are so many adorable designs.

Recipe:

Mossy Meadow Base Card - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"

Striped pattern from Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper 5 1/4" x 4"

Mossy Meadow Mat - 3 3/4" x 2 3/4"

Ornament pattern from Home for Christmas DSP - 3 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Very Vanilla for Sentiment - 2 1/4" x 1 1/2"

   Stamps used:  Cozy Christmas

I also fussy cut one of the adorable little Reindeer and popped him and the sentiment up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The Mossy Meadow has also been popped up.

Wedding Day is Here

The Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper is just so beautiful.  It's too bad we don't have a better picture of it online or in the catalog.

The paper has just three colors:  Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand and Basic Black.  This makes it perfect for coloring with a sponge dauber to go with any color scheme you want.  I previously made another wedding card HERE using this paper.

Today's card is for Chris and Brittney's wedding that will be happening tonight at 6 p.m.  It should be just in time for a beautiful sunset.

Brittney's colors are Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate, so of course her card has to have those colors in the mix.  This was just so simple to do with Sponge Daubers.  They perfectly color the flowers and leaves.

I popped up the layers with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Don't forget the inside!  I used For the New Two inside and out for the stamp set.

Don't forget to make a pretty envelope to go with it.  This way you can show off the beautiful paper inside and out.

Take a minute and say a prayer for a beautiful day for the Bride and Groom.

Countdown to Wedding Day

If you've been following my blog lately, you'll know I've been working on wedding fun for a young lady at our office who is getting married.  This weekend is the big day and today we're having a little shower for her at the office.

Brittney, if you are looking at this before 2 p.m. (Arizona time... stop reading!)  Don't want to spoil the surprise I have for you.  :)

It should be safe to show the cards first.  I made one for myself to give her and one for someone else to give.

This one is mine.  The gift I have for Brittney, truly is "Just For Her" a perfect Bride's gift, I think (see below, below - not you Brit... lol).

This card is for someone else that needed a card for the shower.  It really addresses just the Bride too, I see, now that I look at it.  That's okay though, even though her fiance also works for our department in another division and will be there too.  Poor guy, I hope we have some of the other guys show up to eat cake and have punch!

Since the Bride and Groom already have a home together, they don't need any household items and are just saving up for their honeymoon.  However, I wanted to give her something to have to open at the shower.  What fun is a shower without presents, right?

So, I was trying to come up with something that would be a good gift for the Bride and thought about a little care package she could have with her on the big day for those last minute emergencies.  Then last weekend when I went to the grocery store, I was able to find so many great sample size products that were exactly what I had in mind.

After looking online, I found out a LOT of people had this idea too.  Thankfully someone had a great download of the banner which I used and then added my own items to the list for her jar.

I found the jar at the grocery store Monday and filled it with little sample sizes of everything you see inside.  I actually found a few more things I need to add to it, but I can take them to her when we go out on Friday.  I was invited to join the girls for a manicure!  I've never had one before, so I'm really excited about it!

For the New Two

This Designer Series Paper is just so versatile.  Even though it has no color to start with, it can be easily sponged, like I did here, or simply left as is and it is beautiful either way.

For today's card I used Calypso Coral for sponging and for the mat behind the sentiment and on the card itself.  The base of the card is Very Vanilla.

It is hard to see the Gold Metallic Thread in the picture, but it looks good in person.  You do have to used quite a bit of it on a card though since it is so very thin.  

I popped up the sentiment with Stampin' Dimensionals and added some Rhinestone Jewels for a little bling.

Flowers... as promised!

Here is a look at the vases that will be on the tables at the wedding.  I think they will be even more beautiful as the wedding will be outside in the evening after sunset.

The bottom 1/3 or so of the mason jars were painted with Mod Podge and sprinkled with Silver Glitter.  Let me tell you, that glitter was all over the place!  I'm still finding it here at my house and the jars didn't come to my house!  Just random flecks!  ha ha!

Well kids, it's off to bed for me after a three day weekend.  For my regular readers, you know I write this the day before posting at midnight so you can see it bright and early in the morning.
