Hippos Dies - It's Sale-a-bration time!

Sale-a-bration time is here and there are SO MANY great things inside.  See Catalog HERE.

I think this is one of my favorite SAB catalogs that I've seen in a long time and I can't wait for you to earn your favorite freebies inside!

Today I just have to show you one of my favorites.  I cased this from Simone Breu from Germany.  She posted it on our private Demonstrator's Page on Facebook and I fell in love with it immediately.

This is made using just the Hippo Dies (that match Hippest Hippos - each are free with a $50.00 purchase during Sale-a-bration).  The sentiment used is from This Birthday Piggy (159107) in the Annual Catalog.

Recipe:

Basic White Thick Cardstock - 4 1/4" x 11", scored and folded at 5 1/2"

Basic White Cardstock - 4" x 5 1/4 (cut two)

Hippo Dies

Stampin' Blends - you choose - I used Granny Apple Green Dark, Real Red Dark, Daffodil Delight Dark, Bermuda Bay Light, Night of Navy Light.

This Birthday Piggy - for sentiment.

Place your dies on 4" x 5 1/4" cardstock where you'd like them to be on the card.  With a magnetic plate, it's easy to cut them all at the same time.

Save the little pieces, you'll want them to go on top after you've finished your coloring and are ready to attach to the colored piece.

Decide the colors you want under each opening and color enough of an area so that when the die cut piece is popped up, all you see is color underneath.  See my sample below but DO NOT COLOR ON YOUR CARD BASE.  See my "Lesson Learned" at the end of this post.

After you're happy with the coloring and that the die cuts line up, stamp your sentiment if you want it on the main piece (I forgot and had to stamp and punch my sentiment), Then use Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the die cut piece.  Be sure to put some near the die openings so they stay popped up nicely.  Attach this to the colored piece.

Glue the colored piece of cardstock to your 2nd piece of matching cardstock so that you don't have any bleed through and then glue it to the front of your card.

I used the marker end of the Stampin' Blends and just made about 10-12 dots of each color on the front piece staying near the die cuts and not all over the card.

Lesson learned... learn from my error... I colored directly onto the card front, not even thinking about it bleeding through.  Silly me!  SO, color on a 2nd piece of cardstock that is the same size as your top piece (4" x 5 1/4")

Thank you for looking in today!  I hope this inspires you to earn the Hippo Dies - AND the Hippest Hippo's because they are adorable!  More cards to come with them.

Have a great week and if I can help you find anything, please let me know.

Donna
