Beauty of the Season

Our neighborhood has started a Neighborhood Committee - NOT an HOA (thank goodness) but more of a Social Committee where we can meet each other and make new friends, discuss improvements, irrigation, block watch, etc.

We also have an irrigation district and we're all responsible when something in the neighborhood breaks.  Thankfully we have a great treasurer who collects the dues from everyone and takes care of hiring people to fix the problems.

So, with all that said, I thought I'd send our dues in a pretty card, with my stamp on the back, of course, maybe a little advertising... and a heartfelt thank you for all they do!

Here's the card I made:

Goodness Makes Me Grateful

Please tell me I'm not the only one who's done this... please...?  ha ha ha!  I guess I shouldn't make cards when I've had the day (or days) I've had.  The good news is, I was able to save this card, which I thought turned out beautifully until I noticed this:

Without going into all the details, we ended up having to have one of the beautiful outdoor cats that count on us for food and shelter, put down today due to several issues from kidney failure and other intestinal issues that weren't going to be improving.

The vet and everyone at our Animal Care Hospital is so kind and they did everything they could.  So I wanted to make a nice card for them - even though I know they will all be signing and sending a card to us.  I plan to make cookies later today and drop them off on my way to work Monday.

So, here's the card - re-arranged after the original oops!  LOL

Normally I wouldn't use Whisper White or Very Vanilla as a base because it isn't as sturdy as our colored card stock, but since the top layer has extra layers, it really ended up working very well.  Thankfully I had extra to trim off to place onto the Whisper White!

Notice how the first (now 2nd) layer is popped up with Dimensionals and the sentiment is adhered directly at the top, but uses a dimensional below so that it balances out.

Thank you for looking in  today.  Before I go, here's our beautiful boy we lost today.  Isn't he gorgeous?  He was a Maine Coon and a giant sweetheart!  Here he is trying to convince me to stay home and play instead of going to work.  LOL

Rest in Peace Sweet Boy!

Christmas Under the Tree

I spotted this easy card by Martha Inchley and just have to give it a go.  I changed one of mine up a bit and CASEd her on the other one.

This is made out of cardstock-weight kraft sheets and comes in 12" x 12", with color print on one side and white printed patterns on the other.

Two of the patterns are seen on the card.

The deer / elk is colored with Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Coastal Cabana Blendabilities.

The base is Early Espresso cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4".  The next layer is Whisper White cut at 5 1/4" x 4" and the DSP is 5 1/8" x 3 7/8".

Do you see something extra in here?  Post a comment if you see it.

Thank you for looking in today.  Can you tell I'm excited for Christmas?  I love to make cards for Christmas and I'm anxious to get them started!

Happy Friday - I hope you have some creative time this weekend!

Today and Everyday, I am Thankful

It's Thank You time again for this month's workshop customers.  I just love making these every month!  I especially enjoy using my Blendabilities, so I'm always looking for something to color!

This month I used Today and Everyday from the Annual Catalog.

The lanterns are colored with Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, and Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities.  If you haven't tried them yet, you really should, I think you'll love them!

Thank you for looking in today.  This is a short post so I can get some sleep and have this posting for you first thing in the morning.
