Home Sweet Home

My oldest son and his girlfriend are getting ready to move into a new (to them) house.   Tonight I will be going out to dinner with them for Mother's Day and I'm so excited to get to see the new house.

They just got the keys on Friday, so when I was looking through my emails on Friday, I had one from Brenda Quintana and guess what!  It was a HOUSE!  Well, a Fancy Fold that turns into a house.  How perfect is that?  So of course I watched her video and made one for the kids.

I checked out the pictures of their home and it is a light gray (Smoky Slate) with a little bit darker roof (Basic Gray) and perfect white window frames (Whisper White).  Well, that makes it easy!  Oh, and the door is black (Basic Black).  I had to add a little bit of color and made the banner over the door with Dapper Denim.

Now, their home isn't a two-story and I suppose I could have just done a single here with only two windows, but I just liked this version so much, I had to go with all four.

I think if I were to do it over, I would add lines to the roof with the line stamp from the set used to make the house - which is Sweet Home and the Thinlits are Home Sweet Home.

I plan to do a photo tutorial of this, but for now, check out Brenda's YouTube video of how she made
it.  It really is very easy!

If you are reading this in an email, you may have to go to my blog specifically to see the video.  Simply click on the name StampsWellWithOthers where you see it in your email.

Thank you for looking in today!  Have a wonderful week.

Cut Out To Be Friends

These scissors are so cute!  If I'd colored them black, they would look just like our Paper Snips!  However, I wanted some color, so color I did!

Recipe:
Berry Burst - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Daffodil Delight - 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White - 5" x 3 3/4"
Daffodil Delight - 4 1/4" x 3"
Color Theory (Berry Burst) - 4" x 2 3/4"

I colored the handles with ink from the inside of the stamp pad lid and my Aqua Brush.   The colors I used are Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide, Daffodil Delight.  The blades of the snips are colored lightly with Basic Gray watercolor pencil - without the water.

Thank you for looking in today.  I may or may not have a post for tomorrow, it will depend on tonight's dinner.

A group of classmates are gathering together for dinner at a local restaurant.  Forty years ago (YIKES!) we graduated from High School and while Homecoming and our reunion aren't until October, one of the graduates and his wife are visiting Arizona this week.  It is his first time back here since he left just a few days after graduation to go into the military.  So, with the help of facebook and messenger, we've gathered about 15 - 20 people for dinner.  Now, that may not sound like very many people, but... our class only had 112 in our graduating class.  Small Christian School that was limited to 435 (I think that was the number) students.  Weird, right?  LOL

Come back tomorrow - if nothing else, maybe I can post some pictures of our dinner and friends.

Yellow Daisies for Birthday Wishes

A couple of days ago I showed you a little snippet of this beautiful paper with the yellow daisies.  If you missed it, you can see it HERE.  So, I wanted to show you a bigger piece of these daisies and this is what they look like.

Aren't they beautiful?

Old Olive - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper - 5 1/4" x 4" (daisy side)

I popped up the sentiment ovals with Stampin' Dimensionals and added some bling to the strip.

Happy Birthday Thinlits

If you've seen the new In Colors for 2017 - 2019, you may notice that a couple of them are pretty close to some current colors.  Berry Burst is kind of a mix of Rose Red and Melon Mambo (at least to me) and the Powder Pink is kind of like Pink Pirouette.

But, I wanted to see them together with our watercolor pencils and the Happy Birthday Thinlit.  I love layering that thing, it's just so pretty when done right!

Recipe:
Powder Pink - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Berry Burst - 5 1/4" x 4"
Whisper White - 5" x 3 3/4"

Using my watercolor pencils - Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry (which seems close to Fresh Fig) and Daffodil Delight, I simply colored big swatches of each color, over lapping a bit into the Daffodil in the middle.

Then with my Aqua Painter, I painted back and forth in each color, blending just a bit in the overlap.  Clean your brush before going to the next color though it will all look muddied up.

The best trick for putting Liquid Adhesive on the thinlits, I used my Silicon Sheet, a sponge wedge and gently dabbed it on to the back of the die cut.  The trick is to NOT let your cut out move or it will get glue on the front and that is what you want to avoid.  This works so well, it just amazes me!

Then, carefully put the two together and ta-da!

Thank  you for looking in today!  Have a great day!

Today's card design is by Susie Wood.  When I saw the color scheme, I knew I had to use those colors as well.  The Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper is used for the Old Olive diagonal stripes.  When you see the whole piece of paper, it is darker and lighter across the sheet and really looks beautiful as a whole as well as cut up.  I also changed up the sentiment design and the center of the daisy.  This set comes with two center stamps for the daisy.  One solid and one that looks like texture.

Recipe:
Old Olive - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Daffodil Delight - 5" x 3 3/4"
Whisper White - 4 1/2" x 3 1/4"
Delightful Daisy DSP - 4" x 2" (you could make it smaller, depending on  how much white you want showing.
Old Olive - 5" x 3/4" (from Daffodil Delight edge to edge)

After looking at it on here, after the pictures are done, I think I'll add some Rhinestones to the Old Olive strip - over on the far right above the "you".

Inside I used more of the same piece of DSP to add a strip of paper inside.  Love those yellow daisies!

Thank you for looking in today!  I'd love to have you on my team so you can get your hands on some of these great items early like me!

Can You Survive

Every year when the new Annual Catalog comes out, many Demonstrators make a Survival Kit to hand out with their catalog to their customers.  Of course, I'm one of those Demonstrators and every year I try to make it a little different.  This year, Stampin' Up! has helped us out and made one available on our Demo Website so believe me, I took advantage of going the easy way this year.  Especially with still trying to get settled in at the office.

Now, I can't show everything in my kit... there has to be some surprises, right?   But here is what you can see, for now.

Of course, the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog, a new pen filled with a piece of new Designer Series Paper, a bandaid (for those paper cuts from flipping through the the pages), Chocolate (everything is better with Chocolate!) and a tea bag (for when it's time to sit back and relax and write that wish list).

I love these big bags we have at Stampin' Up with the Logo on the front.  It perfectly holds the catalog, some surprises and my Survival Kit.  It's also great for keeping the catalog in, just to keep it safe and protected.

Are you on my mailing list for a new catalog?  If not, email me soon so I can get yours ready and into the mail.  Email me at StampsWellWithOthers@gmail.com with your name and address.  IF you already have a Demonstrator, please contact them for your catalog.

Happy Tuesday....

and Happy Birthday Daddy!  I miss you so much.  He would have been 93 today.

New Catalogs in Hand

My new catalogs have arrived!  Won't be long and they will be in your hands as well!  Here's a sneak peek at the cover!

And... a little funny for you that I snagged from my upline Lorri!  I couldn't resist.  Will this be any of  you when the catalog arrives at your house?

This is all I have today.  Somehow I managed to pop a blood vessel in my finger tip and it's swollen and making it hard to type.  Ouchies!

Happy Monday.... again!
