Swap Prep

Saturday was a busy day and oh so much fun!!

First it was Berta's workshop filled with new projects and beautiful cards to be made along with the tastiest homemade chicken salad on croissants for lunch.  Yum!!

After the workshop Brittney, Linda and I were working on our swaps for next week's Fall Fest we'll be attending.  Jackie also stayed behind and helped and we all enjoyed watching Season 1 - The Big Bang Theory on DVD.  Seems we all LOVE to watch TBBT!

Here are a few pictures.  I just had to share how adorable Brittney's Evil Minion's are.  So Stinkin' Cute!

(Here's the original of my minion made and posted a few weeks ago)

Hexagon Gingham Garden

Linda spotted a great card today and shared it with me.  I loved it so much I simply had to CASE it tonight.  Wonder if Linda is doing that tonight too... hmmm... guess I'll find out at tomorrow's workshop!  :)

The original spotting came from Annette Elliott.  Thanks Annette for sharing.  I changed a couple of things, but it's your basic design and it's beautiful.

I've often thought about how to use this paper from the Designer Series Paper called Gingham Garden.  This is a perfect way to use it I think.

Stamps Well With Others Recipe and Measurements:

Card Stock - Daffodil Delight - Begin with a base of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and score it at 4 1/4".  Cut a piece of Island Indigo 5 1/4" x 4" and the DSP 5 1/8" x 3 7/8".

Run a piece of Island Indigo through the Big Shot using the Honeycomb Embossing Folder (129378).  I used a full 5 1/4" x 4" piece through so I had enough to figure out the measurement, plus you can use it for a 2nd card.  Cut the Honeycomb piece to 5 1/8" x 1 3/4".

Punch 3 Daffodil Delight circles using a 1 1/2" Circle Punch (which I just now realized SU doesn't carry- Ugh!).  You should use the 1 3/8" Circle Punch instead (119860) although it will be a little tight on sizing.  Sorry about that!

Punch small flowers with the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack (118309).  Attach either a Pearl Basic Jewel (119247) or Rhinestone Basic Jewel (119246).

Stamp the pretty flower pattern from the Six-Sided Sampler (w-130953 / c-130956) onto Whisper White card stock - two in Island Indigo and one in Daffodil Delight.  Punch them out using the Hexagon Punch (130919) and pop them up onto the Daffodil Delight Circles with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

Stamp "hello sweet friend" and trim it up into a flag with your paper snips.

Assemble as shown and give it to your BFF - for no reason at all!  Aren't those the best to receive?  I sure think so!

Thank you for looking in today!  I hope you're ready for a fabulous weekend!

So Many Candles

I just can't get enough of the great Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper!  The balloons, the candles, the party hats!  So much fun!

Here's a couple of cute cards I made for today's post:

Stamps Well With Others Recipe:

  • Card Stock: Raspberry Ripple, Bermuda Bay, Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit, Pool Party
    • Raspberry Ripple (8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4")
    • Bermuda Bay (5 1/4" x 4") Stamp with sentiment first - I stamped with VersaMark (102283) and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder (109132).  When finished, run through the Big Shot using Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335)
  • DSP - Balloons (2" x 4 1/4") matted with Raspberry Ripple (2 1/4" x 4 1/4")
  • DSP - Candles (1 3/4" x 4 1/4") matted with Raspberry Ripple (2" x 4 1/4")
  • Balloons - Small Oval Punch (120908) and the Owl Builder Punch (the foot) (118074)
  • Cupcake - Cupcake Builder Punch
  • Stamps:  Cycle Celebration (w-130270 / c-130273); Bring on the Cake (w-128490 / c-121958)
I decided after making the Balloon Card - that the DSP was too big, so I cut it back and I think it looks better on the Candle Card.

Circle Thinlits Die - Take Two

After I posted yesterday's project, complete with instructions, I had a chance to catch up on my emails and found another way to use the Circle Thinlits to make a card with more room for writing.  Apparently it was introduced at Convention.  I absolutely LOVE this idea!  Thanks to Patty Bennett for posting her instructions.

Please forgive the sloppy gold line, first of all the gold was from last year's holiday catalog, so not available, but this year's Holiday Catalog has a great White Stampin' Chalk Marker (132133).  Secondly, the line is crooked and sloppy because I didn't use a ruler or guide like I should have.  Ooops!  You get the idea though.

This gives you room to actually write a note inside that won't be visible when the card is closed.  Isn't that great!!??  The Whisper White card stock inside is measured at 2 3/8" x 5 1/8".

Here's how to cut the card stock to make the longer card.  I found in listening to other bloggers, they give different dimensions, which makes me wonder if each Thinlit isn't exactly the same.  Just to be sure, follow the old carpenter's rule, "Measure Twice, Cut Once".  I find myself measuring multiple times, just to be sure!

From there, follow my instructions and recipe from yesterday's post for decorating.
