Thank You to Our Veterans

I wanted to share a couple of quick cards today to honor our Veteran's and thank them for all they've done. 

I realize normally we begin sharing cards for upcoming occasions weeks ahead of time but the best thing about a card like this, there doesn't have to be a day set aside to thank our Vets! 

Everyday should be open to the opportunity to say thank you.  Whether by sending a card to a serviceman or servicewoman or simply saying thank you when passing on the street or in the mall or better yet, how about a surprise lunch purchase in a restaurant?

The measurements for this card are so simple, you can even make up a large quantity and have them ready any time you need one for someone special.

The base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4".  The panels are 3" x 1 1/2".  Depending on the sentiment  you use, you may been a longer or shorter panel.  The 1 1/2" should work all the way around.

Slide your heart punch all the way in on each panel so they are all at the same spot.  I lined up the outside panels first and then centered the middle one between.

Use the punched out stars to decorate the inside.  No wasted paper on this one!

Project Life - Scrapbook With Me

I'm still up to my ears in election returns from last Tuesday's election, but I wanted to share this great post from the Stampin' Up! blog.

Project: Change My Scrapbooking Life

I like making scrapbook pages . . . but I only spend a few days a year doing it. And I take photos pretty much every day. Soooooo it doesn’t take a math genius to realize that I will never “catch up” on my scrapbooking.

Ever since Stampin’ Up! announced its Project Life line, I’ve wondered if this might be a good solution for me. So this weekend, I put it to the test. I grabbed a stack of adorable photos from fall 2007 (I mentioned that I’m behind, right?) and Stampin’ Up!’s Seasonal Snapshot Project Life Accessory Pack and Seasonal Snapshot Project Life Card Collection. I sat down and started playing . . . and in about half an hour I had an adorable layout that I am super proud of!


Here’s how it works

1. Choose up to 10 photos for a layout.
2. Pick page protectors that will work for your photos.
3. Lay photos on page protectors; add cards in the open spaces. (I waited until I liked how they were arranged before sliding everything in.)
4. Journal and accessorize!

Will I do this again? Absolutely! And I’ll be even faster next time. Now I could complete three or four layouts an hour.


I left my work station ready for this weekend. I left the lid off of my card pack and just put my stack of photos inside. Everything is safe and ready for me to come back to. And now that I know the system, I may even finish up my 2007 album this way.

One thing I am excited about is that these pages can go right in to my existing album, mixed in with my traditional scrapbook pages. They all fit in the same 12" x 12" binder.

Christmas Wishes

I've been so anxious to get my hands on this stamp set and now I have it, so expect to see a lot of it!  Isn't it a great set - Ornamental Pine (w - 135104 / c - 135107)

 

Actually, this may be the last post for a little bit while I attend to long hours at the office, but I'll still be around, just no time for blogging - at least with my eyes open!

 

The base of this card is Cherry Cobbler, then Early Espresso.  A layer of Whisper White embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder (127821).

 



The stamped layer is 3" x 4 1/2" and matted with Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler - each 1/8" wider than the previous layer.

 

 
I carefully inked just the pine needles with Almost Artichoke and then inked the branch with Early Espresso.  Stamp onto the upper corner, re-ink a bit of the needles and stamp them again coming up from the bottom.

Stamp the pinecone in Early Espresso and then fussy cut with your paper snips to give them some shape and dimension.  Attach to the branch with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

 
Using a two-way glue pen (100425) I marked a few places on the pinecones and pine needles and sprinkled them with Dazzling Diamonds (133751).

Under the pine layer are two strips from Trim the Tree DSP Stack (135824) from the Holiday Catalog.  Each strip is 1" x 5 3/8" and then matted with a strip 1/8" bigger.

Baubles for Christmas

This is such a pretty stamp and after stamping it with VersaMark and Gold Embossing Powder, it's even prettier!  This is a work in progress, but I wanted to share what I had so far. 

 

Originally I had just planned on embossing with the Gold, but then I decided I'd give coloring it a try and I really like how just a little color changes it up so much, don't you agree?

 



 

 

You can see the pretty gold emboss better when I put the card down flat.
