Number of Years (retiring)

I was sad to see this stamp set retiring.  It is so much fun and has so many ways to use it.  A long time ago, I spotted today's card on Connie Stewart's blog and promised myself I wanted to make it.  Fast forward to the 2018 Retirement list and it's time to make this card!

There was a little bit of difficulty making this card, but once I figured out the right measurements for the little squares, it was a breeze.  Sadly they were wrong.  If you ever see that mine are wrong, please, please, please let me know.  It won't upset me, I promise. I would feel awful keeping bad measurements on any of my projects.

Isn't this just such a fun card?  I love it!

Recipe:
Real Red - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Whisper White - 5 1/4" x 4" (cut 2 - one for outside and one inside)
Basic Black - 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Whisper White - 1 5/8" x 1 5/8" (cut four)

Stamps - Number of Years
Inks - Real Red and Smoky Slate

On the large (outside) Whisper White cardstock, stamp "dots" from stamp set all over the top third or so as well as the side edge and bottom edge.  No need to stamp in the middle that will be under the black square.

Stamp the age that is going away (in this case 4 9 ) with Smoky Slate and the number that is coming up (5 0) in Real Red.  Be sure to stamp the 4 and 9 with the bottom of the number at the bottom of their square and the 5 and 0 with the top of the number at the top of the square.  Just like when an odometer moves up.

Inside I stamped Happy Birthday from the same stamp set.  Notice it is stamped on a little piece of card stock.  This was done to give it a little fun inside, same for the rhinestones.  Believe me did ya?  Well, that was a fib, it is on a little piece of card stock because I messed up the original stamping inside and those rhinestones... to cover up a bit of wayward ink.  My mantra... "There are no mistakes in stamping, only opportunities for embellishments."  Thank you for believing me though...

So, since this set is retiring, don't wait too long to order it.  You won't want this one to get away from you.

Thank you for looking in today.  It's Friday Eve!

  1. I saw this on Connie's blog and thought it was pretty clever! I had not thought about the squares and measurements - just the idea. Yours looks great! My mom was always 39 and holding - she would have gotten a giggle with this card....

    1. Thank you Chris. I was pretty frustrated, but it worked out. My boss used to have 39PLUS on her car license plate. My brother is turning 70 this year... I see this card in his future.
