I just love new catalog time!
This technique was spotted on Lori Pinto's blog Lollypop Paper and Ink. I fell in love with how simply coloring with the new Watercolor Pencils looks without adding water or blender pens. I changed up the paper and the ribbon a bit, but I just had to copy the chicks and the pencils. Thank you Lori, this is so cute!
Recipe: Crumb Cake - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
Early Espresso - 5 1/4" x 4"
Serene Scenery - 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
Whisper White - 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
I stamped the chick on the right first, then stamped her again on a post-it note and cut it out as a mask. Then I stamped the other chick over the mask so her tail goes "behind". She also got post-it stamped and trimmed so I could color the background with my Water Color Pencils. I used Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point and Old Olive. I also cut out a small oval from a post-it to be colored as the "sun" very lightly. I did use my blender pen on the Daffodil Delight to color it in and then stamped it with another stamp from the set after it completely dried.
I also added a little color to the chickens. Lori left her's plain white which is also cute. I couldn't decide, so I colored mine a bit with my Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pen.
Thank you for looking in today!
Very cute. I have done that background before but never knew it was anything special -I was just trying to cover up a large area of white that bothered me! Sometimes I would add a little water instead of just the bold swipes of color or made them swirl sort of to the look. Anyway, it is fun. The polka dot mat part is fun as well! Sometimes you just need to brighten someone's day!

This card came in perfectly for a friend at the office yesterday. With all the changes in our office leadership, everyone is on edge and afraid of the future. This was the perfect card for my friend who was really stressing yesterday!
