Quilted Christmas Tutorial

I promised  a step by step tutorial for yesterday's post, so here it is.  To see the pictures better, simply click on one and they should all open in a new window that you can scroll through which will be bigger.

Begin with a piece of cardstock 3" x 3".  The color will depend on the colors you are using, but this will be the "framework" for your quilt, so make sure it is a coordinating color that you like with your color choices.  Select three Designer Series Paper (or solids if you wish) and cut them with the same Framelit, separating the pieces into three piles so you can add them into the frame later.

Set aside.

Cut another piece of cardstock (color doesn't matter at all since it will all be covered).  Make this one 2 7/8" x 2 7/8", just slightly smaller than the 3" x 3".  ALSO cut a piece of our Multipurpose Adhesive sheets the same size.

Remove the protective sheet and place the sticky side down onto the piece of cardstock.  SAVE the protective sheet for a later step.

Use your bone folder to press it down nice and solid.  This really helps keep sticky strings from pulling up when you remove the backing.

You should now have a fully adhesive sticky piece of card stock,  Try not to touch the adhesive, it will rub off just like our glue, but you don't want to pull up the adhesive from the card.

Place the quilt frame onto the adhesive square.  Don't press it down with your fingers, you will be sticky!

Here is where you will use the protective sheet you saved from earlier.  Press it down over the quilt frame and rub over it with your fingers.  This will stick the frame down without pulling up the adhesive.

Ta-da!

Now you can begin piecing the quilt together.

Then to give it the "quilted" look, run the square through the Big Shot using the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  You can see the difference here.  I did each one differently, one with the folder facing up, one with it facing down.  You can see the difference here:

Then put your card together with your newly quilted square!

Thank you for looking in today - Happy Monday!  It's Team Meeting night, so depending on time I'll do my best to make a post for tomorrow.

    1. Awwww... Thanks Lorri! It really is very easy to do. Once you have a plan, it just all comes together. The hardest part is picking the colors!

    2. Really pretty. Thanks for a great pictorial tutorial. What happened to your bone folder?

    3. My bone folder is well used. When I put re-inkers on my ink pads, I use my bone folder to smoosh and spread the ink into the pad. Makes it pretty!
